Yes i planned to but I am not within 2km. Hope i can get a placement.

New school in mature estate albeit with some new hdb and pte housing, should be no problem. Good luck!

As the school will only have P1 students next year, no CCA will be offered.

            thx qms for reply.

would like to seek your opinion. Ive been accepted to be PV in rdm pri but i'm staying 1-2 km from sch. Base on hx, there is a risk of balloting out in phase 2B & thus my hubby is kind of asking me not to waste my time doing the PV. As for AP, I'm within 1km. So most prob will not need to ballot.

In your opinion, should I just choose a brand new school (lazy way) or should I diligently spend 40 hrs doing PV and try my luck to get into rdm (an established sch)?

Also, do you have any idea what the PV in rdm do? Their PV requirement (on paper) seems super high, even worse than my previous job expectation. :yikes:

If you have the time, I would suggest you take up the PV in RMPS. It will give you an opportunity to understand the school better. Through this PV, you may form a decision towards either direction. You know your child better so you are in the best position to tell what type of school suits him. What better way to know a school than joining it as a PV? Not sure how RMPS selects PVs but in other threads, I read of parents staying less than 1 km from the school and their PV applications were rejected. So, seems like they are very selective. Since you have been given the chance, why not take it up?

Once you have completed your PV, you will have two choices - RMPS in P2B or APS in P2C. In the event that you (touch wood) are unsuccessful in the balloting during P2B, you can always fall back on APS in P2C.

About the risk of balloting in RMPS during P2B. Last year was the first time RMPS had balloting for those staying in the 1-2 km category. However, it was like 25 applicants vying for 24 places, so the chances of selection are high. Of course, when it comes to luck, nobody is able to guarantee anything. If you are really concerned about this and do not want to waste your effort, why don't you monitor this year's registration and see if RMPS still requires balloting for those in the 1-2 km category in P2B. If it still does and you do not wish to waste your time and effort, don't go for it then.

Another thing is, if you are really unsuccessful at the ballot in P2B, it is very likely that you will be placed higher in the waitlist. I am not sure how long the waitlist is for RMPS but I do see new students coming in every now and then.

It's a matter how much you are willing to do for your child.

BTW, just because you decide to choose a new school doesn't mean you are lazy. πŸ˜‰

Are you able to share with me what are their PV requirements? Only then will I be able to answer this question. You may PM me if you like.

Agreed with QMS that you should take up RMPS PV since you are being selected. At least have extra parachute to jump right?

                    FYI:

                    According to school website:

"Alexandra Primary School has planned to start lessons at 8am so that students are adequately prepared for learning after a good rest. All students will, therefore, report to school by 7.30am for assembly, followed by exercise and interaction with the form teacher before the first lesson of the day.

For Term 1, school hours will be from 8.00am to 1.30pm, Monday to Friday. This is to allow our students to adapt to formal school hours and transit from the shorter curriculum hours in a kindergarten to a longer one in primary school. From Term 2 onwards, school hours will be from 8.00am to 3.30pm on one day of the week. Details will be communicated during the P1 Orientation at the end of the year."
