Hi West Spring PS, may i know do you offer higher Chinese language?
Dear Berrypie,
Higher Mother Tongue Languages (HMTL) are offered at the P5 & P6 levels.
At P2 onwards, after students have had sufficient time transiting from kindergarten, differentiated instruction will be conducted to cater to the different learning abilities of the child. So, if a child is assessed to be highly competent in his/her Mother Tongue (MT), he/she will be taught MT at a slightly higher level than the norm group of students at the P2 to P4 levels. :boogie: -

Can I know what CCA are available at West Spring?
Dear Xpidemic17,
West Spring Primary School will be introducing the Modular CCA for the Primary 3 students. A modular CCA approach will allow students to discover their interests and talents and to make informed choice when selecting a CCA. During the modular CCA at Primary 3, classes will rotate among the following modules:
1) Sports
2) Aesthetics
3) Life-skills
4) Clubs
Each module lasting for 1 term
From Primary 4 - 6, students will continue to join the Modular CCA. Selected CCAs are based on parent's survey that was conducted this year. Possible CCAs to be introduced include Basketball, Tchoukball, Fusion Dance, Robotic/Coding, Outdoor Education, Photography, Handicraft, Baking, Cartooning Digital Arts, Drama, etc.
The modular CCA also allows teachers to observe, identify talents and thereafter help the students to develop their passion as they pursue their interests in the CCA.
Besides the Modular CCA, selected students will be offered to join the Main CCA which the students had already specialised in. These CCAs are Wushu, Calligraphy, Dance and Basketball. Both the Modular and main CCAs will be held during curriculum time on every Tuesday in 2016. -

Dear parents,
I am a working mother of a West Springer. Last year, I went through the same dilemma that everyone of you are facing, which school in Bukit Panjang is the best fit.A fellow tr colleague had a child in WPS p1 2014 & told me good things about the school. My hubby and I were drawn to the play curriculum @ wps as I have read a lot on benefits of play in helping children learn better
I was further reassured when I attended open hse last yr & learnt abt bite-sized assessmts for students which is less stressful.
This year as I looked at their assessments and it was relevant and manageable. It was apt and a good foundation for psle.As an educator myself, I was glad to learn that WPS looks into laying strong foundation in el,maths & lang to prepare students for psle.especially with their remedial for the weaker ones and the enrichment for the better ones.
As a teacher myself, I could not attend many of the events celebrated by the school but their weekly updates on Flickr captured wonderful moments my child experienced in WPS.
Furthermore, the teachers follow the homework policy strictly and my child therefore has quality time to spend with us at home during weekdays and weekends.
I hope my input helps some of your decision-makg.i know it’s not easy but we feel happy when our child looks forward to going to sch each day that says a lot of the sch.
