YH mummy:
Hi YH mummy,Hi all parents
Im goin to enroll my daughter to WSP next year P1, I also heard a lot of positive feedback from my neighbour who enrolled their kids to WSP but im under phase 2c, do you think the possibility for my daughter to enroll WSP? Beside, I do understand the Student care which only have little vacancy, do you guys have any recommended SC near/outside WSP? Hoping to hear from your kind sharing soon, thanks
you are making the right choice. I am a parent of a child at West Spring Primary School and I would like to assure you that it truly is a great school. The school has become very popular in Bukit Panjang and even beyond. It is very hard to give any information concerning Primary 1 registration. All I can do is wish you the very best and I do hope you are fortunate to obtain a place.
The school is also fortunate to have a school based student care, which helps working parents with student care arrangements. It is also very popular and the spaces available are limited. There are many student care services in Bukit Panjang. It might be a good idea for you to take a walk around the neighbourhood area and visit some of the student care services to have a better understanding of their environment and serivces. However, I have heard that the school has possible plans to increase the student care capacity.
I hope that you will be able to join the West Spring Primary School family next year.

Hi Tenko
Thanks for your replied, now I got more confident to register my daughter to WSP
Just the only concern is the SC, previously I visited to a SC which located at BLK 613, the environment looks good, just a bit far distance from WSP and my home, I might need to arrange school bus for my daughter.
understand the school bus contact is provided by the school, rite? I can get from the school upon my registration on coming July?
really can wait to have a visit to WSP and meet up all the parents/members here.. :rahrah: -

I can understand how you must feel regarding the student care. However, the school is trying its very best to increase the capacity in the school based student care to help the students who need the service.
Once you obtain a place at West Spring Primary, the school will provide you with details of the services such as Bus Transport and the Student Care.
Once again, all the best for the P1 regsitration.

Hi all
This is my first post here
Will be enrolling my boy for P1 soon next month. I am deciding between Greenridge or West Spring. Quite like the methodology of Purposely learning through Play. But like to know how would they transit from this method when they reach Upper Primary? Cos I believe this would be more useful for lower primary.
My 2nd question is how helpful is student care? I do have a helper who can help fetch my boy after class but he would be alone at home with helper. Not sure whether it would be more beneficial for him to attend student care after class. Any views and comments are welcomed.

Hi STHL28,
delighted to know that you are considering West Spring primary for your child. West Spring Primary follows the MOE curriculum just like in any primary school. They also include Purposeful Learning Activities for the Young, which are an addition to the curriculum. The school has an excellent team of teachers and staff that help every child achieve their goal. I am a parent of a child in the school and would highly recommend this school.
The school is fortunate to have a school based student care to help working parents with after school arrangements for their child. There are many advantages of a school based student care, which include the student care centre working closely with the school and its curriculum.
Please do take a look at the school website which would give more information on West Spring Primary and its student care service.

It is great to know that you have an interest to register your boy at WPS. I am one of the pioneer batch of parents at WPS and my girl is in P3 now. The school is like one big family we have a wonderful group of parents(PSG) who consistently help up with the school activities bcos of their helpfulness the school is able to organise fantastic learning programme for the students. The school is also very proactive in engaging the parents. Every school events one of the parents(due to space constraint) will be invited to attend. Every year the principle will have twice chit chat sessions with the parents to hear feedback from them and in return also provide information and updates with regards to the school. WPS teachers are caring and commited as well. My girl enjoys going to school. I can understand your concern if the child will be ready by the time they enter upper primary level. All I can advise you is no worries your child will certainly be ready once they are in P3. The school is good at nurturing students as well. By the way,the school has recruited a number of highly experienced upper primary teahers who are experienced with PSLE preparation in their previously schools & whose students had done well at PSLE in previously schools. So that when these teachers teach our children now, they're already indirectly preparing children for PSLE through PLAY(Purposeful Learning Activities for the Young)approach. Very important for children to enjoy learning as school prepares them for PSLE. The school shared that PLAY will be progressively balanced with intense PSLE preparation at the upper primary levels. Infact, children are already given additional worksheets to practise on at the lower primary levels to ensure rigour in learning. The school has also done very well at the national maths olympiad, being in top ranks. This shows that PLAY approach is effective. You may find out more information from the school website http://www.westspringpri.moe.edu.sg/ or the Official FaceBook page of the school. Hope to see your child in the school in 2017. :snuggles: -
Just to share with potential parents importance of choosing right school for your child so that he/she enjoys going to school & loves learning at young age.
Based on past years, some parents had decided to take risk & choose supposed brand name schools far from Bukit Panjang. Then when they discover that itโs tiring for child & parent to make such daily travel distances, they then try to enroll child into West Spring.
By then, due to popular demand, all places had already been taken up by other parents who chose West Spring as first choice school. They end up having to put child on wait list. Till today, thereโre still many children on wait list to the school.
If you have any further queries, pls feel free to PM tenko,lfc4ever,Magstar & kisscut
