With all due respect to chatelaine, the student care is not a tuition centre. We must be very clear on this fact. It is an house student care, which provides supervision to its students after school. The mentors are not there to provide tuition. They are there to ensure that students do their homework that was given by the school. There are times that students are unable to complete homework on time due to other activities held at the student care. The mentor is not there to teach the subject that your child is doing for their homework.

The current student care has an excellent reputation in Singapore, and is doing an outstanding job at West Spring. There is a long list of parents waiting to enroll their child.

Are you from student care? I don't expect them to guide or coach students. There is a vast difference in the management as compared with previous student care. Be it discipline wise or handling of students.

We are fortunate to have a school based student care at West Spring. Many parents are happy with the service provided by the current operator. I would strongly suggest for you to contact the management of the student care to discuss your concerns with them. Then they will be able to give you a clearer idea of their policies.

            To dear chatelaine,

It gives me great pleasure to know that you think that I am a sponsored member. It only gives me great pride that I am good at writing my opinion which has made it look so perfect. What I have written is true and I am being professional.

I am a working mother. I do not get to support the school for events. The only way I can show my support is through promoting the school to my friends and neighbours. As a parent, I support the school. As a teacher, I corrected some misconceptions, however if people take it that I am sponsored, I can only say one thing which is that my conscience is clear.

Let us all be professional and not try to blame the school for every effort they put in. The school is teaching them about graciousness and I think we have to show it in our way of approach too. If you have any concerns with the school, contact the school, clarify with the school and not jump to wrong conclusion. Let us all be professionals, not a keyboard warrior , and support the school in which our children are in.

Excellent ... Outstanding ... ? Only school will say it themselves.

Anyone here have heard that a P2 boy was flipped upside down on top of level 3 staircases ... by the current student care teacher? I were like, Oh my Gosh, flip a boy like a pen? It was witnessed by the class students. Just because he was walking a step slower than the class, he was flipped like a toy. The boy was in total shock after that. All the girls and boys were talking about it after they got home. News spread everywhere. Imagine that flip was for your kid. What if the teacher had jelly-hand and dropped the boy off the stairs....   :?: :?: :?:

As a representative of the Student Care Centre at West Spring, we would like to explain and clarify some erroneous allegations in the earlier post about the incident involving the P2 boy. The incident happened on 17 February 2017.

The SCC teacher on duty that day witnessed the P2 boy gripping the staircase railing (between the 2nd and 3rd floor), and tried to persuade him to go downstairs for tea break. However, the boy refused and continued clinging on tightly to the railing.
The SCC teacher was concerned that the boy might accidentally hurt himself, and quickly held on to the student from the back to prevent him from making any dangerous moves. As the teacher tried to pull the student away from the railing, the student let go of the railing. He did not fall and was not hurt as the teacher was always holding onto him, and standing in an upright position on solid ground.
The SCC supervisor, upon realising the unsettlement of the class of children, proceeded to talk to the class of children with the intent of counselling. The children subsequently shared with her about the commotion earlier. The SCC supervisor also called the student’s mother that same evening to explain what happened. The boy was picked up from school by his father that evening.
Our company subsequently counselled the teacher on that very day and advised him on the best course of action to take should similar commotion happen again.
The teacher, who was emotionally affected by the event, resigned on his own accord three days later.
All of our student care teachers and staff care for the children deeply, we will be aggrieved should any child come to harm. It is our priority to ensure every child is protected and nestled in a safe environment. We are grateful for the support of all our students’ parents who continue to stand behind us, attesting to our devotion in caring for their children. We will continue to do our very best to take care of every child and ensure their utmost well-being.

It is true that my son was flipped "upside down" by the teacher. My son did not grip onto the staircases railing. While at "upside down position", the teacher disciplined my son for >10 secs. At that point of time, we did not pursue the matter to avoid unwanted attention.

Hello Mum2Me, what you have described sounds really awful and it saddens us just imagining this happening to any of our children. Would u give us the opportunity to take this offline so that we can provide you with actual facts about what really happened? We would really appreciate if you can spare some time to hear our side of the story including the specificities of our investigation. It’s also important for us to speak to the actual person so that we can answer any questions you may have. Further to this, we will be contacting you for a chat at your convenience. Many thanks for your kind understanding.

The school does not have enough stalls in the canteen . During recess, my child has to queue up for at least 10 minutes and only left 10 min to eat.Worst still ,there is insect in the food and rotten vegetables that can been seen sometimes.

The school field is not open for the students to play .So why did the school build a field at the first place?WHY IS THIS SO RIDICULOUS!!!
