Snow Crystal:
Hi snow crystal,
Rylee thanks for sharing.rylee:
My ds2 is currently in the VCA IP1 program.
Overall, I should say the schedule is pretty tight as compared to some of his friends in the O level track. Most of the days lesson only end at 4pm. With projects discussion and CCA, he probably reach home around 6 plus.
Please can you advise if the IP teachers there are nurturing and approachable?
In terms of teachings, do they provide proper detailed notes for each subject or touch and go expecting the students to research and study very independently?
Generally the IP kids have or do not have much tuition?
Thanks :please:
Let me try to answer your questions.
From the frequent emails sent from the form teacher updating some of the special events and additional studies provided by the program, I am quite sure they are.
There are a lot of notes in term of papers and also soft copy from the
IBook, I will say proper notes and guidance are provided. But of course in IP program, in order to train them to be independent in term of studies, they have also stressed a lot of own and group research.
For tuitions, it is all depends on individual progress. So far, my ds2 only has maths tuition though he did quite well in his previous maths exam. -

thanks so much for sharing again.
Looks like your DS is in good hands. Happy for you :celebrate:
As a parent, will be concerned if our kid is struggling and not much help is rendered by the school.
Personally feel that a supportive and nurturing secondary school environment is quite important. A teenage son is not going to be easy to manage. If the school and peers can provide him some positive direction and support, it will be a bonus. -

Have anyone been to the victoria open house yesterday?I went there to and find it very interesting. However, the space is quite limited. The auditorium is air-conditioned and the school house is quite huge. The food there tastes quite nice and cheap. The CCAs there got all gold and wished to develop pupils into a gentleman, professional and sportman.THe principal’s talk was very interesting with about 5 quizzes. The last question asked was What do you wish to acheive before leaving this school? No one dared to answer except for a boy who raise his hand up.However he forgot the answer and soso,The quizzes also had prizes to been collected.THe best part is the q and a Section when there were many questions asked.I couldnt remember any so i apologize.Oh, if you remembered the quetions,Pls reply e as i want the know what the questions were. The guided tour was quite good as the students explained every secton of the svchool very flunently and precisely. There was a talk about the ip in their school and they have something called electives(optional) The other sections of this open house-I cant remember. I posted this for those who did not go for the open house and have no other reason…If i made any mistakes or unfull article pls quote me or create another post to comment on my writing

Can anyone share his/her view comparing Victoria School, Dunman High and Temasek Junior College - e.g. in terms of IP programme, CCA achievements, the school environment and culture, etc?

I think dunman high is the best as it has the biggest area to study and the pupils there are taught to be polite,They do not commit any crimes and hands in their work on time. they have quite a large number of gold archeivements. The students there work very hard to get good results and does not slack. The school environment is quite mordern with kongzi in their garden which is perhaps located in the middle of the school. Their school is rich in both chinese and english culture but I do not know how to explain in words. Their IP programme is almost the same as other IP schools but provides a better way of learning by giving projects every week and ask them till they understand what they were taught. The teachers there are very strict and will not hesistate to school if the students talk unnessarily during the lessons.Their talent development proggramme cossist much more compared to TJC and Vs.They also organise camps almost every month if I am not wrong.I hoped my son to go to Vs and if I were you,I would put dunman high as 2nd choice and vs as first choice
I replied this at dunman high and temasek JC kiasu parents web too.

My feel is that vs and dhs are vastly different in terms of school cultures and students mix. Its not a matter of which is better, but which environment does your ds prefer....
No idea on tjc....
