My DD t score 244. As we stay in the west, so considering Nan Hua High and Crescent Girl as the 1st choice. Can someone compare and share yr tots as to which is better? we r very trouble as the 1st choice is very important cos believe she get get into any of these 2 schools as they COP is 243 and 242. Pls help
I had this problem choosing between the two schools last year too; they have their own merits and achievements, but in the end I chose Crescent Girls' School. This was because Crescent Girls' School has a consecutive number of years achieving Band 1 in their O'levels Result, while Nan Hua is not so consecutive, and achieved Band 3 last year, in the S1 Posting book. it depends what subject your child is better at. If she speaks Chinese at home and is better at it, then you may want to choose Crescent Girls' School, to improve her English. But if she is very good at English already, then you may want to post her to Nan Hua to improve her Chinese. For my case, 1st choice was Crescent Girls', while 2nd was Nanhua high. While the Band 1 status is very important, you may want to seek your daughter's opinion too. Let her choose which school she likes between this two, and who knows, she may be loads happier that way! If she can't make up her mind, you might want to discuss it with her, look through both school's information and choose the one that is better in her opinion.
Crescent Girls' is more of an English school, the teachers have consultations etc, and the school has a very notable alumnus and I've not regretted the choice. However, Nanhua high's not bad too, so you might want to consider carefully, using the above tips! Look through what CCA your daughter might want to go to too in each of the schools, and what awards each school achieved too.
I stay in the West too, actually! in my opinion, Crescent seems far but is not that far, just need to take mrt from boon lay/ pioneer and to Redhill. Not that sure of Nanhua though, but I heard that you must stop at Clementi and walk for some time.
All depends on your daughter's choice (and her reasons for that choice), so listen to her thoughts, and voila!, the problem is solved! Well, I wrote a great deal, but I still hope that it can be a help to you! Good luck!

Don't need much. I just came back from Penang (overseas also - over the sea).

Some mathematical questions to consider :
Question 1 (True or False)
The T-score is computed by computer, which can generate to many decimal places. As a result, it is impossible for 2 students to have exactly the same T-score.
Answer : FALSE
Question 2 (True or False)
Even if the answer for question 1 is \"False\", the chance of it happening is very very slim because the number of decimal places used for the comparison is so large.
Answer : FALSE
Question 3
Support your answers to Q1 & Q2 with mathematical concepts or theories.
Answer to support Q1:
a. The calculation of the T-score is dependent on the \"national average (NA)\", \"standard deviation (SD) and the student's actual score.
b. The NA and SD are \"Constant\" (fixed number) derived from overall results and will not change.
c. Therefore, a student's T-score depends only on his \"actual score\" for each subject
d. Two students with exactly the same \"actual score\" for all 4 subjects will have exactly the same T-score, regardless of the number of decimal places generated. For example, if both student A & B get 70 for math, 65 for science, 80 for English and 76 for Chinese, their T-score will be exactly the same.
Answer to support Q2:
a. There are over 48,000 students taking the PSLE
b. The \"degree of accuracy\" of the marking scheme for the papers is 0.5 marks. That is, the \"finest\" incremental change in mark is 0.5 (1/2 mark)
c. The intelligence of the huge group of mid-range students are quite similar.
d. With such a huge population size of over 48,000, it is quite probable for more than 2 students to get exactly the same combination of marks for the 4 subjects and their T-score will be the same.
Question 4
All Answers from helplines are true.
Answer 4:
\"Cannot Tell\" Depends on your luck on who receives your call.
