so long as it impresses the selection committee, anything under the sun, the sky , the universe 🙂

Anyway, during the interview, they also ask you to talk about yourself. Not sure if they change tactic, lah.

as long as kid tells things that he/she is confident at, makes it a natural and learning process, perhaps make it a fun one. But guess interview usu solemn and serious tone. Is it a panel of interviewers ?[/quote]Not really all that solemn it seems. But kids will naturally be nervous. It's an important event to them, afterall.

To keep the kids in the SBGE programme, there are only 7 schools to choose from, 3 boys, 2 girls and 2 co-ed. DHS is on the wrong side of the island for me, and NUSHS is too new for me but DS is also interested, so we apply as well. So we apply 3!

My DS applied for NUSH and RI. He is not keen on HCI but keen on NJC so we applied for that as well.
It's not on the MOE GEP list but with cheap fees it doe not matter

The list of schools on the MOE GE Branch list of approved SBGE programmes is not based on whether the school is independent or not. Dunman HIgh is on the list and it's not an independent school. The original list was made up of schools which offered GEP in secondary schools until GEP secondary was phased out a few years ago. Later, more schools were added after review by MOE.

Just wondering, is this the first time RGS/RI running their own GAT? How will the test be different from the GAT that most other schools commonly use? Those who DSA both RI/RGS and HCI/NYGH, do the kids need to take 2 separate GATs instead of just 1 then the schools share the result?

Just curious:P ****Best of luck for the coming GATs***
at least last year they did their own GAT test

Schools like RV have their own SBGE too but are not on their list and hence not eligible for the grant.
So if DHS is not an independent school and charges cheap fees, students in the SBGE programme there are probably not eligible for the grant too since they are already paying cheap fees.

They actually mentioned non IP schools like Catholic High, SJI, MGS which have SBGE are eligible for the GE grant too.

NJC was mentioned during the talk too but definitely not on their list. Does NJS have SBGE programme ?

Schools on the MOE GE list have approved SBGE programmes, regardless of whether they are independent or not. These are the schools the GE Branch would prefer the GEP students go to to continue their secondary GE education. If the student chooses to go to DHS, then obviously there’s no need for the grant as the fees are not high. Several other schools have their own talent development programmes, but these are not MOE-approved. I believe NJC has its own talent development programme.

Yeah good luck to every one.

Initially our main aim was for NUSH cos RI is really too far.
But just found out recently that with the new circle line completed in Nov, it takes only 8 stops from Clementi to Marymount and a bit of walking to reach RI. Should cut down travelling time by a lot.
Of course NUSH is still much nearer but the DSA process is much tougher too.
