Hi KTC100,

DS now zzzzz.... Anyway we didnt prepare DS for HAST, neither will we prepare him for the RI GAT. So far 320 boys have sat for the ACSI HAST. There will be another round on July 8 or 9. All of DS classmates including DS himself finds the HAST easy. So it is a matter of relative performances, which is dependent on their own ability. Best advice is no need to know format, no need to prepare, just go and do it and enjoy the paper.

Hi RSS and thanks... my worry was that my info was based on my own son's HAST two years ago (he's now in Sec 2 IB), and my friend seemed think she was \"misled\" by what I told her from my experience! Just wanted to confirm whether, indeed, the format was that different - can't imagine the HAST changing so drastically. Anyway, you're right, it's water under the bridge... Thanks anyway...

Oh your ds is already in acsi year 2. May I ask why did he choose acsi? Why did he choose the ib instead of the conventional A level? Does he enjoy the school and the programme? What would his advice be to a p6 boy who is considering acsi among other schools like ri and nus high? Thanks

Not every school has DSA and don't think that many applied for DSA to neighbourhood schools.
Once you apply and get it, it will be a big hassle if you change your mind and want to apply to better schools thru S1 if PSLE results permit.

Actually there are alot of neighbourhood schools that have DSA. But have to go to each school's website listed on MOE's list and look individually.

And is there any info on the camp and the English essay that the students need to write in the camp ?

He's an ACSian to begin with, so when he got the DSA, he didn't even think twice! IB, especially in ACSI which is tops in the world, makes sense, especially because he thrives on language, presentations, people-skills etc. He LOVES it so far. Only complaint - I hardly get to see him! Between activities, competitions, camps and project meetings, and of course, the new friends he makes in the course of all these things, he barely comes home! So far, no tuition or anything, he's also keeping his head above the water in IB as far as academics are concerned, so I think he has really grown all-round as a person. So sorry, can't compare with RI, NUSH as I have no experience or first-hand knowledge. Hope this helps...
