DSA 2011

Kloggy:
Thanks. I've heard of my dd's friends getting called for interview but all scored < 80%, my girl scored above 80% & I really hope no news is good news. We only applied to nygh -- just happened that we made up our mind early abt which school to go & so we decided to save the hassle in applying to several schools.....[/quote]Wise decision.
During my dd's time, those who were in GEP, scored >80% and did HCL received CO calls from NYGH before either NYGH or RGS began conducting their interviews for GEP students. Perhaps they've changed their schedule this year. In any case, so long as none of your dd's friends receive calls from NYGH there's no need to worry. I'm sure you'll hear from them soon enough. And when you do, be sure to share your good news. Did your dd apply for any other schools?jtoh:

As what piggylalala has said, the students are put in gp of 3 with 2 teachers interviewers. The qns are pretty general like why u choose RI, which other school u DSA, what is your most favorite subject .... Sorry hard to get much info from my ds., he always said 'I forget '... They were asked to talk about the project stuffs they brought to present. My ds said the other 2 speaks very well too .... So got to keep our finger cross and :faint:

So this year the students were asked on the project stuffs that they brought along. Last year my son said they did not ask any questions on the projects for their group. Not to be too worried that the other 2 speaks very well.. because it is possible that all three will be accepted into RIRSS:

DS also just came back from RI interview. There were about 15 of them sitting in rows of three (all three from different schools) waiting for their turn. There were a couple of interview rooms (4-5, i think) with the interviewers names written on the doors. Parents can hang around the kids before they go in but i think i was the only anxious one (DS kept shooing me away).RSS:

He was quite nervous before he went in because he only prepared his portfolio today after he came back from school, took a short nap, had lunch and had only less than an hour to put everything together. However, he said the interviewers were : \"happy and jolly\"
So he was put at ease. He said the questions were not the usual ones that he had expected like why you choose RI etc. They asked the kids to rate their nervousness from 1 to 10. Some other questions (after much probing and asking like 243 times to jolt his memory :stupid: ) were
i) If you were a scientist, what would you cure?
ii) What item would you choose to be in this room? (the 3 answered : clock, window and whiteboard)
iii) Based on the application forms that the kids have submitted, they were asked about their CCAs and achievement. (DS was asked about his Scouts experience, the other boy talked about his NE ambassador experience)
iv) they were asked to present the piece of work that they were told to bring along. DS did his IVP project, one boy did ERP (biography) and another did his P5 SS portfolio. (Actually we brought also his P4 SS family tree project cos he couldnt decide which to present)
I think there were one or two more questions but he \"forgot\" (it's his favorite phase...I always tell him how i wish i am inflicted with forgetfulness and forget to pick him up from school once in a while...
)
BTW, they did not asked to look at the portfolios (so much for the rushing and stress).
