My DS had waited three hours for his NJC interview yesterday but he only went in for ten minutes too!

Wow ! Which panel was he in and at what time ?
My DS also went in for 10+ minutes only but hardly need to wait.
His time was supposed to be 3.30pm and he went in around 3.40pm

My DS too had to wait for over an hour. But he said interview was about 10 min. Not sure what time he went in and what time he came out. He was taken away by the senior student about 15 mins before his interview. But he said they had to wait outside for a long time.
From what I heard from DS, the questions were mainly to assess your personality. DS mostly answered from heart and did not give any calculated well thought out answers. Not sure if it is a good thing or a bad thing. 🤷
DS also said that the boy who was interviewed before him came out quite tearful. Said his whole face was red and he was wiping his face. DS was feeling very sorry for the boy. Wonder what went wrong?

Maybe it's similar to CHS where the school would rather give away it's DSA places to boys from outside schools, especially if they see that those boys, based on their past academic records, would not have a problem getting a good enough score to enter the school with affiliation \"bonus\".

I think you've hit the nail on the head. The chairman of the ACS board, in response to a question during a briefing 2 weeks ago, mentioned that ACS GEP boys would have no problem getting into ACSI anyway as they tend to score well for PSLE.

Based on my observations, my guess is that the HAST probably was the 1st level of screening. I would imagine they won't even bother looking at your portfolio unless you are within the top 20% for HAST. Thus, being an all-rounder probably was the least important factor.

In terms of sports DSA, it is defintely more multi-faceted than just being the best.

According to my DS, the interview panel at RI was friendlier than the panel at NJC yesterday.

Never heard of students coming out crying at RI interview also so far.

Will be sent by snail mail and they say early Sept.
But MOE regulation requires all results to be known by 2 Sept.

But for Sports DSA, a lot more leeway is given. There was a case of a boy who applied under Sports DSA for ACSI a few years ago. Academically he was weak. He scored 200+ but was given a place in the IP programme which surprised a lot of the parents who were in the same DSA Sport as the boy. Eventually he proved that he couldn't cope in the IP programme and was switched out to the O level class in Sec 3.

Wish they could send out emails first, and then confirm with snail mail.

Maybe the Sch Knows it has a Back-up of O Level Class, that's Why giving the boy a Chance to Try for IP.

But for those Sch that has IP Prog only, Maybe they Have to Exercise more Stringent Criteria on the academic capability, else the kids may suffer later on if they have to Switch out from the Sch in the event that they cannot Cope ....
