Hi intermezzo,

Yes, I agree math olympiads do still have a role to play in DSA. After all, there is a specific DSA domain for Math to apply under for some schools. It's just that through the years, it's getting tougher and tougher to secure a DSA through Math as more and more students participate in MOs and go for coaching and get better at it. You are absolutely right about other factors such as personality, aptitude and attitude coming into play of course. πŸ™‚

Just to share, my DS also attained SMOPS Platinum and we were told by other parents that once you have Platinum, will sure get into HCI but too bad, my DS was put on WL, although among the top 50. Luckily, DS got CO from NUSHS....Phew ! So SMPOS Platinum does not guarantee entry via DSA into top schools although it definitely helps.

If it is so sure, then the MO training school revenue will surge and surge.

It already is. People who apply for Math Domain usually are armed with certificates from SMOPS, NUSH and even SMOJ.

Hi, sorry to butt in, but DD only got a bronze for SMOPS, nothing else, n she got CO from RGS, through Maths domain. She is from mainstream, not GEP.
:congrats: very commendable given that COs from Raffles family for mainstream using subject domain are very rare.
May I know are there any parents who received calls from HCI asking them to put HCI as first choice yesterday? I was just wondering what's the reason for calling the parents when they've already sent out emails and letters.

Yes, I received a call from HCI too a few days ago, asking me to go for the parents symposium, saying my DS among top 50, as good as CO. When I told him my DS already got another CO from NUSHS, he kept on telling me we have to put HCI as 1st choice, otherwise DS will sure go to NUSHS. Just wonder how many parents they called & say the same thing.

Did you not RSVP to HCI, that is why they call to get you to attend the symposium? I didn't get any call leh, but I have already reply to say we are going.
Oh, yes, I did confirmed by email & got acknowledgement by HCI. Maybe they just want to make sure all on WL turn up.
