For those of you who have experience with Myanmar maids, can kindly help to share some pointers, e.g. market salary, are they sticky with off-day arrangement, which are some good agencies for Myanmar maids?

I left off burmese maids for the past year. I have taken 3 frm 2 different agencies.
Both agencies told me no off days so I just took it as that. Seems like the agent dictates whether they hv off days or nt, but I guess mynmars being new to spore dont know where to go.
I used United Channel cos they used to specialise in mynmars only n i wanted an agent that had someone who could communicate in their language, they had one lady in the katong brunch tho I took mine frm Bkt timah. I paid 340 a year ago and after the price fixing, all were quoting 400 but I bargained to 350.
Recently I heard my agent quoting 400 for fresh mynmars. He says tht the mynmar agents are pricing it as that so I guess thats the starting price today. I stop using Utd channel cos sometimes I had to wait for a month before the girl arrive or some excuses would be given that shes sick or too young to come in. There are a number of agents supplying mynmars and u should make enquiries. The last agent I used was called Check employment (small office ) on the 3rd level. Can try calling for jefferson. I took the last one frm him and was given only one biodata. Didnt use him again cos too far so I dont know how things are today but when i told him 400 was high he was ready to drop price. -

Anyway, my friend has an ingenious method to test if the Myanmar maid can speak English well or not.
You see, when you ask standard questions, they will have a \"template\" answers set to reply you.
My friend approach it differently, he asked: \"How do you fry a fish?\" The potential maid will have to answer it without the template answers.
It turned out that the maid that my friend hired can speak fluent English AND Mandarin.

Nah, not Tailor M…, I ve only use United Channel and the mymnmar that is their interpreter was based at the other branch at Katong then. I decided to try a smaller agency cos I Ive never seen the boss of Utd Channel and all is handled by their employees. I walked around Bkt timah shopping Cte and came across a small office called Check employment n decided to try my last mynmar. He recommended me one that was rather young and she could work but was very smart but cunning. All went well till she mixed up with a malay taxi driver and another malay man. Thats when she demanded for an off day and left the house for 2 hours leaving my mum at home alone when I was out of town. She told me she went out to drink beer. No choice, had to send her back or she will probably land up in geylang.

Burmese maids are quite stubborn n set in their ways. They are also not great with older kids. Mine had insisted that her agent told her that she will be able to hold a Hp after 6 months. Although I was not willing to let her hv the Hp I relented by lending her my old Hp from Sat to Mon. Then she said she is unable to call her family during the weekend as they are all over the bloody country! She wants to hold the Hp everyday now. She said she is more free to use the Hp during the week!! The thing is, telephone calls to Mynamar is very expensive and to apply for SMS service there takes a very long time to come through according to her. So who is she calling and sms-ing daily???
I let her do whatever as I am planning to send her to her agent soon. She needs to be told what to do, like clean the inside of the car every weekend, clean the fans every month, keep her own room and toilet clean, etc. No need to wash car as we hired a car wash guy to do so.
She sleeps by 9.30pm everyday and wakes up at 5.45am weekdays and 6.30 or 7am weekends and holidays including school holidays. Sometimes they forget why they come here for. Sigh!! -
Fattymum… your maid must be very young and not too good in telling lies. Mynmar does NOT provide messaging facilities for h/ps (unless they just started today) only calls are allowed and not all parts can receive. I believe shes messaging someone in spore and is so overwhelm by the h/p cos its like a new toy to her. Better check who she is in contact with before she leaves. Dont be fooled theres no messaging for any h/p, even emailing can be difficult.

Really?? Then my gut instincts were spot on.. She is 29 years old according to her passport.. I thought since she is so religious n has been reading her bible, she was more trustworthy. She is taking the Mickey out of me and her religion then.
She even told me most Burmese maids at a certain school in Bt Timah are secretly holding hps wo employers' knowledge!! -

Depending on where your maid comes from, some may be holding India or China lines as it is easier and much cheaper. My ex maid from Chin contacted her family thru an Indian HP line and can text anytime. My current one from near China contacts her family thru China HP line. It's a lot cheaper to call the family and can sms too. -

From the previous times she called her sister (I think it was her sister) my phone bill itemized the call to Mynamar. I do have a feeling a man is involved in this whole matter of wanting a Hp at all times. After all nothing is greater than love!! :evil: She also told previously that it is very difficult to contact her family as only her sister has a Hp but no SMS service coz it takes very long to apply for it. She is holding a M1 line.
