      Hi Lynn2010

Your ex sin 6 years maid is phil? Who has she been working for 6 years? I think we should have a regulation that we are entitled to a reference and phone number to talk to their previous employer.

How can she serve expired milk? Knowing it's expired and still choose to serve it, attempted poisoning?!?!?! Still so proud can answer she knows expired.....

A Phil. From the MOM records, 2yr+ for a Chinese family, then 1.6 yr for British, another 1.3yr for another British family. Cant be all being poisoned. I suspect all these employers are at home so the responsibilities and expectations different.

As for me, i'm not home and expect them to manage the kitchen. She is a mum herself and apparently ran a stall (own business) in Phil.

I think no need prev employer phone no. as some may change ph or moved overseas etc. Perhaps a rule that all employers have to state the reason for terminating the FDW, her strength & weaknesses. I think this Phil is suitable in a family with an Ah Mah \"watching\".

\"Still so proud to answer she knows it's expired\". This is the thing that makes me mad. She so calm when she answered.

Lyn2010....... yr maid may hv a mental block, 😂 or she must be very old or left spore yrs back and return again...err, perhaps she does not like looking after kids.

wow.... moonie, can i bring you along when i need to interview maids? You so experience....

47 yrs old, not too old leh (of course not young), she left Sin 2009 and return recently loh. No ned to take care of kids as my DD2 is already 13 yr old.

I only ned the maid to clean house and cook lunch & dinner. I hope i dont need one in 2 yrs' time. Just got a new one, 26 yrs old, 3.3yr exp, 2 employers. If this one is good, she can stay with me as long as poss, if not, if i can tah han, let her go after 2 yrs.

Mental block? Well you tell me..... she set the table for 2 persons in Dining table #1. Ask her to bring out and set them in Dining table #2. It will probably take me one trip, but it took her 6 trips!! Trip 1, take out 1 plate fr Table 1 to Table 2. Trip 2, take out 1 plate fr T1 to T2, Trip 3, take out 1 spoon fr T1 to T2, etc. :yikes: Do you call this mental blk? 😢 Nevermind, it's history

For me, I wouldn't select a maid with such a record. Too me that record is a warning sign.
I'd rather try my luck with an inexperienced one.

Why? The previous one who worked for me >3yrs, her records: around 1 yr with a Chinese employer (reason for leaving: a divorcee, very difficult to please), 7mth with an American (reason for leaving: employer's kids grown up and doesnt need her anymore. American employer gave her a very good testimonial and contact no. to call for reference). This one stays with me for >3yrs.

I guess the one who tried to poison me with spoilt milk it's just my luck!!

              Hi Lynn2010

47 yrs old,… I’d be concern with her health and strength, that she could not handle heavy things like furniture, pots and pans etc and can’t climb or squat to do chores. Also ‘lao hua’ eyes at this age, can’t see well unless she wears glasses to do her chores. The house will appear clean enough to her but in fact still very dirty.

I guess if it were my ex maid that is this age and she come asking for a job I would consider but not a stranger maid that I’ve not met before.

              Anyways…Good riddence to bad rubbish…what a horrible maid…

Hope your new 26 yr old maid works out well for you. Is she phil too?

wow.... we should start a thread on what kind of maid to choose..... 😄

You are very right. I think i'm soft hearted lah, but i'm angry cos she said she's a good cook but bull shit. My mum is 68, she is very clean and very good cook so i thought 47 is ok leh, i'm not very far from that too.

I can do things 10x faster than her. My dd said she's like doing tai chi, even placing a glass of milk on the table is in slow motion.

You are very right about cleanliness - BALLS of dust even in her own room. Yah, she kept saying \"I clean already\" but i show her my sole, it's black.

Today, new maid told me there is something wrong with the washer. Dont know the StuXXX maid spoilt it or just coincidence. New maid said it shouldnt be behaving this way as she was using the exact model in the previous employer! :moneyflies:

Moving furniture to clean - she cant even move a chair, just sweep round it.
Maybe cannot squad - explains why she didnt stack the plates neatly in the cupboard at first, she stacked wherever there's space! :siao:
Found one of her undies at the corner of her room beneath the bed!

Still cant find one of my polo shirts :frustrated:

New maid so far so good although only one day.

Lyn2012… Hee hee, I have experienced all ages and I really feel that the older filipinas brain n body tend to slow down, deteriorate faster than us as they age. I guess they were not nourished well when young and also yr maid spent more than 35 yrs in phillipines so its hard to change her mindset. Oh yah, I think menopause or going to so probably the body homones went haywire and affected the brain.

Actually, I dont think she knows what expire is even whn u told her the milk expired or she knows but her stubborn brain think its ok and a waste to throw. Its hard to understand what goes on in that pea brain. Ai yah, too long in their hometown so its hard to take the country out of the girl. lol…
Anyway, good to know u have a new helper and do hope ur new maid will work out fine.

                    Hi Lynn2010

I get very pissed when the maid lies, expecially about cleaning where I can see, smell, touch.

It’s not rocket science…all the maid has to do is follow instructions, keep everything clean, I don’t want to reach out for anything or sit or step on anything that is oily or dusty. This is all basic.

My previous myan maid just drag the cloth over something, she claim she has cleaned it. I take tissue and wipe, show her the black dust or oil, she will look surprised. Then she can repeatedly do this, everyday I have to check or I have surprise touch dirty things here and there. She has no shame giving this standard of service, same like my aunty myan maid.

Yah Moonee, i didnt think about all these stuff. I learn my lesson. No more tai chi master at home. This new one is Supergirl, quite fast. I cant stand those who did things slowly. She cut one onion, i cut 3. My mum is as fast as me.

DHA milk should be included in all milk powder in Phil.

About expired milk, see below conversation....

Me: Do you know the milk has expired
Maid: Yes, yes, expired 3 days
Me: Do you know this is the 2nd time you did this?
                      Maid: <quiet>
Me: Will you drink this milk?
                      Maid: No
                      Me: Why?
                      Maid: Because expired
Me: Then why did you pour for my girl?
Maid: I didnt, she pour herself
Me: Why didnt you stop her or tell her?
                      Maid: <quiet>

Agree it is basic. This old maid that i just sack. I told her that you cannot put the hand towels and floor cloth together and wash. She said.... yah yah i know. Then i saw them in the same pail. When i question, she said, \"i only put temporary\". I saw her use the broom to sweep the floor, raise it and sweep my coffee table. I was shocked. When i say, why do you use the broom to sweep the table.... she said she didnt. I just saw it and she can deny blatantly!!
