Pat's Schoolhouse

mtdt:
CM in Sengkang was my initial choice before we visited Pat's at Serangoon. Too bad, there wasn't any vacancy as they were still pending for MCYS approval to increase capacity intake.oh so the benefit of beg yr born kids!
My no1 is Jun baby. He learn most of his phonics from his old cc in sengkang. a very gd Montessori cc. Only this year, then i bought the P&J series and we read one page a day at home. so far so gd... I heard lots abt ICR (a few of my fren all send their kids there... )and 2 of the 4yos are promoted very quickly to ICR level. I find it gd at least kids are not binded by \"age\" but promoted by their ability.
my no2 is a Dec kid. oh no.. so i shd lower my expectation for him loh?
I hope by early next year, DS can move up to ICR level

Besides Bakerzin, there is a \"Genius R Us\" at City Square (kitchener rd) giving bakery lessons too. They are conducting holiday cookery classes at various dates in Nov / Dec, duration 2~3 days if I remember correctly.
bakerzin.. can send once or twice. Can go broke if keep going there.mtdt:
can send him to classes outside... like bakerzin kids etc. My boy loves cookery classes too.

Hope someone can help me on this!
I was told that in order to use the CDA to pay for the school fees at Pat’s schoolhouse, I have to submit the monthly statement.
Which means that I have to tell them how much money is in the CDA! Is there a need for them to do that?
The CDA and registration forms did not state that I have to send in the monthly statement. I’ve double-checked with the bank and for the giro to be approved, there is really no need for the statement.
I find it very invasive! -
You just need to specify CDA account details in the giro form for Pat’s Schoolhouse. I don’t recall ever needing to provide statements.

LOL... it's quite expensive (to me) The DVD set alone was $160+... Costumes $107... Tickets $58+ each...
Even though i ordered only 1 ticket (hubby can't make it) the total cost still came up to more than $300!!!
According to a friend of mine, this is considered cheap as apparently it used to cost almost $1000 many years back!! (not sure how true this is
)Busymom:
:celebrate: Yes, it's a coincidence indeed.Augmum:
hi busymom,
just happen to read that yr girl also in Halifax Pats', what's a co-incidence.......
this year K2 ?? just curious how much u need to pay for the graduation ceremony (all in with CD, VCD, photographing, tickets, etc)
mine was 7 years ago, just wanna to compare how much more.....
My forgetful DH cannot remember... while I didn't bother to read the form asking for payment at that time  But my domestic helper thinks it's over $300. Maybe koolmama can answer that question better.

DC Mummy:
The principal will be the last person i will check with. To think that not only the teachers turnover is high, the students turnover is also very high!! By the way, I have notice that Pats Arena has been having alot of honey stars/cornflakes/cocoa crunch for breakfast or snacktime as compared to last time whereby i can hardly see those 'heaty stuffs' was served for the kids!
I have spoken to Ada (priniciple from Halifax but now heading Tanglin) before and was told that priority is given to siblings first and followed by internal transfer. Confirmation has to be done by end Sep with registration form submitted.smilingmummy:
Seems like most of the feedbacks on most of the PSH branches are really good. My child is currently at the Arena branch but because of the poor management of the principal, I am considering of transferring her to Halifax branch.
Anyone knows if there is priority for school transfer as i understand that Halifax always has really long waiting list....
Initially, I was contemplating to change there as well after hearing good reviews but utimately put the thought away. Reason is he's doing very well in current branch. He knows his friends, teachers, enjoys the rustic school environment and learning much, thus I don't want him to go through all over again in a new environment.
I heard that Halifax, Seranggon and Buckely are having the long wait list esp those born in 2007 and 2008. Maybe you would like to share more about what are the unpleasant stuff you encountered at Arena? Have you raised your concern to the principle ...... -
hello mummies, any feedback on pat’s claymore and buckley? intend to enrol my ger next yr.

yup, that was what I thought too. They did eventually tell me that I don't have to give the monthly statement if I didn't want to, and that they'd wanted it to make sure that I had a child development account.
I thought that the reason was really lame. If I didn't have an account, would I be stupid enough to ask for GIRO? If I could give them the account details, wouldn't that be good enough?
Really starting to wonder if I should be placing my kid in pat's schoolhouse... -
hi empressplace,
I really agree with what you said about Pat’s schoolhouse admin. After the recent incident with the CDA GIRO, I am really starting to have my doubts.
I was debating between PSH and Chiltern House, but eventually decided on the former cos I felt that they had a more well-rounded education compared to CH. But like what you said, PSH admin really has a lot of areas for improvement!
I just read that Ms Ada Teo will be transfered to Tanglin. So disappointed! She was actually the main reason why I finally decided to enrol my kid in PSH. She was efficient in attending to my queries, and seemed really passionate about early childhoold education.
I hope I won’t regret my decision! -

I am quite surprised by what you have said about Pat's Arena. I did check with my DS but he told me that they sometimes do have cereals but only at most once a week. Can you share with us what other unpleasant stuff have you encountered?

So far, the teachers who have left are a few of the really younger teachers (with the exception of 2 more experienced ones whom told me that they wanted more time for their own children). I must say that the job of a Pat's schoolhouse teacher is not that easy, they have to attend quite a few courses to upgrade themselves, going back to school on saturdays for these and meetings. I must say my DSs are quite lucky to get pretty good teachers for the past years.
As for the Principal, I have always have pretty good relationship with her. She has helped me a lot in the past (of course i have also helped whenever she needed parents to be involved in anything). But it is also a 2-way thing, if you have any concerns, you must find time to speak to her.
