At sec 2 streaming exercise, all students shld hv an idea on the possible sub combi to take at A level. -

Generally a lot of students n parents do not think so far ahead becos you wont know your true academic strengths and weaknesses at Sec 2.

I think should be able to tell the child's inclination by sec 2. With real interest, academic performance can be worked on. -

No, she's just grumbling. I've told her the same thing I told her Sec 2 - that she can always read more widely and that she has the rest of her life to expand her knowledge. It doesn't all have to be taught in school and examined. I also want her to \"reserve\" that AU for and H3 as it's possible that she will want to do one. And she is also the kind who likes to take part in other activities.If yr daughter is so passionate for another subj...she could still take it under 4 H2 + 1 H1, so long she satisfy the sch criteria, such as min GPA (plus other criteria if any)...
BUT very few students would choose this option ...
As it's NOT a wise choice...It makes more sense to reserve the 1 AU for a H3 subj, instead of a H1 subj...
Unless the student is really passionate in that \" extra H1 subj\" to go all way to pursue it...
And to drag this on-topic again, this latest grumble is due to her keeping her options open in Sec 3 by taking triple science. If she had only taken 2, then she wouldn't have to choose which science to drop. On the other hand, she would have to decide which humanities subject(s) to drop ... -

Tend to agree with Jennifer. Given around 10 subjects to try their hands on for 2 years in lower sec, students will have an idea what they prefer and/or their inclination. Usually they are in line with their primary school performances which further confirm their academic strengths and weaknesses.zbear:

For my elder boy, he was lucky to be able to do Physics and Literature then and the school had accelerated Maths and accelerated Physics programmes during his JH3/4 years. -

Sad to say, it didn't happen in my DS case n now he is full of regrets in his choice combination made for his O levels.
Now only hope for the best n pray for a miracle to happen.
