It is the prerogative of schools and not MOE’s in the exercise of conducting and releasing appeal results. Therefore, different schools have different methods and timeline. One also has to remember that students may appeal to a couple of schools and some would turn down offers, while others waiting for appeal result may just finally decide to stick with schools that they were posted to. Thus, delay in notifying successful appeal students cannot be avoided IMHO.

I think the point that forumers are missing is the resources spent dealing with appeal cases. Whether the number of appeals are large or small is irrelevant. Each appeal still takes up resources of schools and of parents which can be better utilized.

When school starts the focus should be on the child adapting and moving forward with the posted school. Appeals should therefore be initiated and disposed off prior to the start of the new school year so that the admin staff in the posted and appeal schools are ready to deal with the new intake of students who are geared up to start their new journey in the posted school.

The appeal system has been around long enough for certain practices and protocols to already be in place. Unfortunately because of the school holidays the schools themselves do not have enough staff available to deal with the appeals hence the spillover to the start of the new school year.

So I believe it is a question of timing and how to best allocate resources to deal with the appeals. Here is where the MOE can play a role.

I don't think many parents are affected by the late appeal results. Because comparing to the whole cohort, ,I don't think appeal cases are majority. Instead of rushing admin to clear appeal cases asap, perhaps they are tryjmg to ensure every seat goes to deserving child, hence the wait? Parents who are very keen on the appeal school will not mind the time and money wasted on buying uniform orbooks, so long the end result is success in appeal.

In life, we don't always marry our first love. I strongly agree to appeal if marginal miss of results, logistics, posted to non of the other choices. But if posted school is one of six choices, we can probably explain to kids that appeal success is bonus and posted school is just as good. They draw a lot from our approval.
          Jmho.
Agree. Appeal is optional and, as such, it does not make much sense to regulate something that is optional.

Mr Heng will instruct no more appeal.

civic6228 ,so whats your decision now?

Have you changed school for your child already?
              Dear Sopmama,

I think you are mistaken .... I wasn't referring to my appeal.. I was commenting on \"Danlim\"'s comment about appealing to Swiss Cottage for his son when the son was posted to Fairfield .....

Personally I would have taken Fairfield for the culture of the school as well as the affilation to ACJC ...

I did appeal successfully appeal for my DD when she was initially posted to Swiss Cottage.

Rang appeal school on 31st to check appeal status but PIC not in and was ask to leave telephone number. But PIC didn’t call back.

Rang on 02nd n PIC pick up the call.
Was asked name of child n aggregate.
PIC say " not so fast " n " if you don’t get our call by Friday 04th means not successful "
                        I take it as " don’t call me " n " don’t call me anymore "
