To be honest, art is quite a demanding subject. Make sure your child does well for art/home econs/ D&T in sec 2 as it determines the overall percentage crucial for streaming.
Hi, My daughter so far is coping ok except art. I am planning to send her for art tution during June Holiday. Do you have any good one to recommend? Thanks.
Hi, I don't think there is a need for art tuition unless she is taking or planning to take o level art. As long as she does her work on time and meet the requirements, which is fairly simple, she can score a decent grade. Those who doesn't do well for art are usually not giving enough effort. -

Since Music was not graded, I really think art should not be graded too. Indeed, I know of few Secondary Schools that will combine art with other subjects, thus lower the weighting of those subjects as CCHM did for Science, in lower Sec, Bio, Chem & Physical are combine and in upper sec the student will only take 2 or more base on their ability.
My understanding is that CCHM don’t offer art in upper sec, but their offer Music, and yet art is graded whereas music in not graded.
I am also thinking of putting my kid in art tution, but will this help? I have 3 kids, none go for art courses, but one of kid somehow has some passion on art and she won few art prize. -
CCHM does offer both music and art at ‘O’ levels.
-
CCHM definitely offer art and music for o levels. I am not sure about higher art or higher music though. The school do in fact grade students on music in lower sec, its just that it is not calculated in the overall percentage.

Hi my dd didn’t do well in the recent common test. Failed her bio papers by 1 mark, other papers passed at borderline. I hate to stress her further since this is only the first term test. Hope any past CCMH students can share some of their experience in year 1. As what sm parents hv said earlier, we should hv confidence in the school.

Hi BB KS mummy, my ds didn't do well in the recent common test too. He passed all subjects at borderline and I'm very worrying for him. Not sure if we need to send them for tuition class. Beginning to feel the stress now. -

Hi All,
I'm a private transport provider using cars and I stay in Bedok area.
I've been performing regular weekdays booking to pick up at Crescent Road at 7:05am therefore I was thinking I could do you guys a service as well since I will reach before the school session starts.
If you are staying anywhere in the east ranging from Pasir Ris to Katong (Hougang, Bartley, Siglap, Toa Payoh could work as well), we could work something out.
I could take up to 4 pax, so do drop me a PM or email me at [email protected] to discuss further.
Looking forward to hear from you.
Cheers,

Hi ! I am a newbie here. Is there any news of open house for CCHM this coming Nov/Dec ? Thanks !
-
I would go for CCHMS. My child is currently there. Overall very good I would say. Went to CCHMS' as well as AHS' Open House last year after knowing the PSLE results (My Child Got 253).
Comparisons :
CCHMS :
1 Male Principal(Effectively Bilingual) with 3 Vice-Principals (2 Females & 1 Male)
AHS :
Both Femal Principals (I saw only 2 and we did not enrol, so I am not sure how many in total)
CCHMS :
Nice Lake
Air-conditioned Classroom During Lessons
Strong Parent-Support Committee
Nice and Well-Ventilated Cafeteria (AHS, you got to walk down a flight of staircase and rather small cafeteria)
New Renovation( Do Not Be Misled By The Appearance From The Main Gate's View)
Not Really Associated With Any Religion (AHS, Includes 1 Hour Bible Lesson, I Think? Please Verify It Yourself  Note : It Was Not One Of Our Consideration Factors As We Are Free-Thinkers.
My Child Did Not Have Higher Mother Tongue Foundation In Primary School But Is Able To Keep Up With Classmates Since Starting In January This Year. Credit To The Teachers!
This Is What I Can Think Of At The Moment. Hope This Info Is Helpful! -
Hi all, my dd is going to CCHM next year… Can anyone advice what is the arrival and dimissal time please?
THANK YOU -
Hi ! Just curious that since CCHM is a SAP school, does it mean that classes are grouped according special and express stream ? During my time in secondary education some 20 years ago, SAP schools used such grouping. Any difference now ? The cut-off points for CCHM last year was 239. So what is considered as SAP “calibre” then ?

Hi there ! What you mentioned is very informational. During the days leading up to my daughter's interview for her DSA selection, my opinion of the school was rather dated. I managed to squeeze some time to accompany her to the interviewI would go for CCHMS. My child is currently there. Overall very good I would say. This Is What I Can Think Of At The Moment. Hope This Info Is Helpful!and I must say that I was very impressed by the serenity of the school compound. The students there were very conscious of themselves and greeted their teachers by bowing their heads. I did not have the chance to tour the school compound so thanks for the insight. FYI, my daughter received CO for her DSA to CCHM. So I looking forward to her secondary education in CCHM. Cheers !

School starts at 7.20 except Monday at 8.20. Dismissal time varies from day to day around 2pm to 3pm. CCA days will end late abt 5 or 6 pm. Most CCA is twice a week. My DD went in with 240 and NO HCL.

Last year's cut-off point was indeed 239. During then, I happened to be at the G.O so I overheard the staff-in-charge telling one mummy (who wanted to pull her daughter out) that there are 100 over students on their waiting list and pointed to the thick stack of documents behind her! So to sure sure get in must have at least T-Score of 240 last year (Dragon babies' competition :)) Every year there may be a difference of 1 - 3 points. Oh ya, during orientation, I saw the mummy who had wanted to pull her daughter out came with her girl. What a wise choice that she opted to stay put! Btw, I commented on my previous post that the sch principal is effectively biligual which I intentionally added in cos one of the mummies that I know told me she chose CCHMS because during open-house, she heard the principal's speech both in English and Mandarin and was rather impressed! She had wanted to choose another popular school closer to her home but the moment she heard the principal's speech in English, she nearly.....oops haha better don't continue. Oh ya, Kancheongpapa asked about Special and SAP.. which I believe is only SAP left. CCHMS in a way \"group\" their students according to their \"calibre\" They have a couple of classes with a certain percentage of students who has music background and another with Science & Math Talents (Both Math & Science with A* I think) etc etc... If really that is their way of catergorisation, it is considered rather a good approach in my opinon...But frankly, once your child enters the sch, any class that he or she goes to is really not so important anymore as enjoying the school's conducive environment in great learning is!
