      Yes, good exam strategy.

      In your illustration (above),
here is a Double Humanities subject combination. So, students will take the better of their two Humanities' grade, to compute their L1R5.

      Example

Let's say a pupil (X) scored like this, in his Double Humanities (O-level) :-

      1) combined
(Social Studies + Elective Literature novel) : scored \"C5\"

pupil X may have been pulled down by the Social Studies (SS) component, because many O-level students find it hard to tackle SS, even though X might have done well in his second component, \"Elective Lit\".

      2) Pure Geography : scored \"A1\"

So, which subject will X choose, to compute his L1R5 ?

He chooses ... Pure Geography, because scored \"A1\" ! That's why Double Humanities is a popular Sec 3 subject combination nowadays.

      Imagine.
If pupil X never taken 2nd Humanities, then no choice, got to accept \"C5\" to compute his L1R5.

In L1R5, Total there are 6 subjects.
Assuming that X scored \"A1\" for each of his remaining 5 subjects, and assuming that he only taken Single Humanities, not Double, then what will his L1R5 be ?

      Answer -

      X Raw (L1R5) will be
      5 + 5 (from his \"C5\" Single humanities), equal Raw (10).

      ============================

IP students do not study Social Studies. IP students no need to sit for O-level National exam, so no need to study any SS. IP students already have a JC1 seat awaiting them in Year 5, in their affliated Junior College.
Yes, this will work better if kid can score reasonably a B(hopefully 3) in 2nd humanities without much effort. For kids who can score reasonably in general but aiming for and need to put in effort to score As

Published in 1953. Very popular literature text (generally in the same category as 1984, Animal Farm, Lord of the Flies, etc)

So far... I haven't read Lord of the Flies yet  Paiseh. Only did Animal Farm, which I don't like much because I felt it was too contrived. Simplifying human politics to just cartoonish animals only serves to amplify views from a narrow focal point. While Napoleon the pig is obviously evil, I don't remember reading anything that explains why he became like that other than he is simply greedy. Life's much more complex than that.

Yes, Lord of the Flies by William Golding is one of my favourite novels when I was in Secondary school. I can still remember all the details and those characters in the story today. My classmates said I behave like the characters \"Simon\" in the novel but actually I hope myself could become \"Roger\". :yikes:

I read it when I was a bit older, maybe JC age? I was horrified by the behaviour of the boys - I can't say it could ever be my \"favourite\". I've refused to read it ever again!
