PSLE COP 2009

Nope. It's via central posting. :D
Maybe, it's not via Central Posting but via the Supplementary Intake? There are certain number of vacancies that schools can keep for its Supplementary Intake. Usually, one will not be able to know if his application is successful at this point unless his T-score is so high that the school decides to confirm him right away. However, if he has certain track record in achievement that the school deems desirable, the rules may be bent, I think.
I don't think its via Central Posting. Probably via DSA.Fairy:
Hi 25hourmaid,
Thanks for all your hard work. Need you to update RGS COP. Know of someone who entered at 259 !!! Not sure if there is any lower entry T-score.
Cheers! :celebrate:
I've known of a few cases in the past 2 years where HCI confirmed students who applied immediately after the release of their PSLE results, which ranged between 24something to 25something. I have no idea on what basis HCI has offered them the places. -
Mathematician:
could it be halo effect due to a recent visit by President Hu Jintao to the school?westmom:
25hourmaid - i hope you will sleep well tonight after the frenzy today! Just another update, I know someone who got into NGH at 258 + 2. So can amend your list...(currently at 263)....
Checked with MOE and they said that the official COP of NYGH is 263.

Thank YOu so much. This is very helpful information. I think I (and my son lah) decided to go to Marris Stella
Maris Stella was founded more than 50 years ago and has a relatively long tradition. Throughout the year, the kids will be busy (including the 1-week break), but at the end of the year, holiday starts early and the kids are given little homework.JJTrue:
Hi Guys,
Can help me. My son got posted to Temasek and appealed successfully at Maris Stella. NOw, I 'm confuse which school to choose. Is Marris Stella better than Temasek. Anyone have opinion on these 2 school ?
Thank You
JJtrue
The people at the school are friendly, although they can be pretty strict about certain academic policy. For example, there is a subject combination streaming exercise for Sec 3 at the end of Sec 2. If the boy wants to take triple Science for 'O' level, he has to get 70% and above for Maths, Science and overall average. If the child is poor at Art or some specific subject, he has to figure out how to pull up his overall average with another subject. It can be stressful. I don't know why the school limits the number of Pure Science classes.
Personally, I like the Macbook program launched by the school. I don't have to worry about virus for one thing. A Macbook will set you back by about S$2.7K. It comes with a 4-year warranty. The only additional items I chose to get for my son were Adobe CS4 Suite ($99 for MOE student) and a Samson C03U mike ($201 - strongly believed I paid too much).
The school provides Ebooks for most of the textbooks so far, and that means the child does not have to carry too many physical textbooks.
They learn to use iMovie, GarageBand, Flash, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Fireworks, besides the usual MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint). The boys are given projects to work on that would give them opportunities to leverage the software skills they have acquired. If the child makes an effort to work on all the projects seriously, he can learn to appreciate the features and concepts of these software.
With a Mac, one can also learn Unix and PHP Programming. PHP and Apache are preinstalled on the Mac OS and can be turned on easily. It is also easy to download Mysql database and install it on the Mac. So if the child wants to learn Unix and PHP Programming, he can do it easily on his own with the Mac. -
Hi. Anyone knows if we have to pay money for dropping 3rd language?

Temasek Sec is co-ed (or mixed boys/girls) but Maris Stella is boys only school. Secondly, distance from your home is paramount. Thirdly, MS has a affiliation to Catholic High being a Catholic school. So can minus 2 points when applying for CJC after 'O' Level.
My advise is to go for MS owing to affiliation advantage. Final decision is yours.
Thank You very much for your advise. It certainly help me to make a decision. -

Hi,
I saw your message about your appeal to Maris Stella. Would you kind to share with me the aggregate score of your son? Thanks.
