The case of my child being carried like a scarecrow and refusal of the centre head to acknowledge that it was inappropriate of her staff to lay hands on my child was not \"blown out of proportion\". My child cried in the first week of school. How can this be deemed as atypical? What is atypical is the centre head condoning the restraint of a child. Kindergarten staff are not prison guards. They should at least calm my child down first before using brute force. Any parent would be upset watching their own child being grabbed by two adults and dragged into a centre. Wouldn't you?
It’s often the isolated cases that get blown out of proportion. My eldest was in MK, my second is in MK, my youngest would be going over next year. I’m not atypical. Most of my eldest classmates had their younger siblings in MK and there were many who switched over from regular childcare.Dino\" post_id=\"1960436\" time=\"1579750761\" user_id=\"6726:
Aiyo why so many complaints abt MOE kindergarten....... Think they really need to relook at the ways things are being done
And from experience (my eldest cohort is P3 this year), I can safely say very few of her former classmates (which still maintains a very strong network) are struggling from the perceived weakness of the MK syllabus. -

“Brute force”, “drag”, “like a scarecrow” make it sounds like the teachers have held her by the hair or restraint her aggressively, coupled with violent shaking and screaming / shouting. Your original description suggests that the teachers merely lifted (carried) her up by her arms under the armpits and into the school. There’s nothing inappropriate with that.

Some children cry in the first week of school. Some cry until the second week of school. Some continue to cry well into the second month of school. Yes, it’s typical. It’s called separation anxiety. Most children will get it out of the system eventually.
Is this your first child and has she attended childcare prior to MK? Has she been separated from you for long periods of time? Here’s a https://www.helpguide.org/articles/anxiety/separation-anxiety-and-separation-anxiety-disorder.htm to help you and your child manage separation anxiety. -

Good for you that you had a positive experience with your children's kindergarten. However, I beg to differ that it is \"appropriate\" for two larger adults to lay hands on a child against a child's will. Whether it is a child or adult, no one should be physically restrained (e.g. forcefully carried under the armpits against one's will) unless they are causing harm to themselves or others.

Any idea why MOE K’s dont provide transport service?

Most kindergarten and childcare don’t provide transport (maybe the atas one do). Besides, MK was never designed to cater to long distance folks given the priority groups of < 500m, 500m to 1km and > 1km, in addition to places being set aside for low income groups. Therefore, it’s unlikely that there is a sizeable demand for transport service to operate.

Teachers are well-trained and qualified. I strongly recommend MOE kindergartens

Hi all,
Any reviews on MK Waterway? My gal is in Early years centre so she is going to affiliated MK waterway primary next year. MK oasis is nearer to me but I am just letting her follow the school though wonder if i should put myself on waiting list for MK oasis. Any feedback? I heard Oasis afterschool care provider is not that good. So wanted to try MK waterway which is under Little Professor.
Appreciate any advice/feedback -

One EYC should be affiliated to about 3 MK. Oasis could be one of them.

I think it’s more important to consider whether you want to utilize the Phase 2A2 privilege for Oasis or Waterway. That’s more critical compared to who runs the after school care Programme. If you are considering Oasis for primary school, you should put up the request to switch / wait list. -
Hi anyone put your kids in moe kindergarten at anchor green or springdale? May i know more about the sch and is it good? Im still deciding whether to put my kids in or not. Thanks

Sending my son to MK is still the biggest regret in my life. He is still not on par with his peers in the pri sch. It is just a neighbourhood sch by the way. Even after sending him for extra English enrichment since mid of K1, it is still not enough. If only we had let him stay at the same pre-sch as my elder child, even though it would cause us a little bit of inconvenience. After every parent-teacher mtg of feedback at MK, the teachers keep reassuring my son is coping well in kindergarten. Their set of standard is really totally different from outside. (Which is irony since this is MOE kindergarten and they should know what needs to be taught before primary 1) How can they expect the kids to transit into primary school smoothly? I am not saying the teachers are not good. It is just the system, and the false hope. The primary school syllabus do not slow down for MK kids. It is not our wish to send our kid to MK just to send him to other enrichment class. So far those coping well seems to have gone for enrichment class while in MK too, that is why they do not have problems in primary school? They emphasize learning through play, other pre-schools are doing the same. I do not see it any different. The term "holistic" is not evident in the primary school syllabus by the way. Anyway, how stress can a pre-school be?
