So … nowadays cannot take the below subject combi right, as needs to take a contrasting subject. Correct?

      Maths, further maths, physics, Chemistry

      Maths, further maths, physics, computing

Thank you all, for the above replies.

Nephew just collected his results yesterday and it prompted some thoughts as he is a very left brain person and the contrasting subject and higher chinese may have ‘cost’ him his scholarship opportunity unfortunately. Perhaps it would be better if he had went to NUSH as he was offered to do H3 chemistry and H3 maths. Can’t turn back the clock though.

Since our time , Jc students take F math, math C n Physic - v common 3A combi n relevant or add in computing or chem as 4th A level subject . My dh took phy , math and F math - he always says best combi coz only need to study ONE subject - v relevant for him to go Engineering/ comp sci faculty in NUS.
We are in the same era; dh and I did F Math, C Math, Phy and Chem. We enjoyed this sub combi. Strangely, dd is never a Sci person.

I totally agree. It's the best combi ever 50 to 75% effort for 100% result :rotflmao:
(though I end up in Biz and not Eng or Comp Sci 🤷 )

My husband too! And his 4th subject was Comp Sci. He went to study Physics then Maths. Me - I can't look at numbers and equations without my eyes crossing! I took Maths at A level but really struggled.

Haha. I took further maths too, but then I thought it was so wasteful to lose one subject so I switched over to Economics and Maths B 😂. Never regretted my move. Economics definitely more fun than F Maths!

I took a slightly different tack.

                      Physics, Double Math, Econs
Thought I wanted more free time (and unlikely to qualify for any scholarhip), dropped Econs from combo in year 2.

I took Further Maths, Maths, Econs and Physics. I thought this was a popular combi at that time?

                        What’s Maths B?
