My hubby is different from your hubby. Once he went to library sales, and bought back many old books ($1 or $2 only) and gave them to the kids !

Actually, my husband doesn't object to borrowing lib books. He just doesn't like the idea of us bringing them onto the bed, that's why I make it a point to clean them first. You are right about the thicker books. Don't think I'd do that when the are ready to read non-picture books!

Would like to ask you about the Peter and Jane books that you recommended. Do I need to get all 3 books (a,b,c) from each level? Are the same words repeated through the 3 books in each level? Can I get just 1 book from each level?

I am glad that you find my blog useful.

Yes the 3 books at each level repeats the same words using different stories. If your child knows all the words very well after reading book a, then there is no need to read books b and c.

My girl only needs to read book a, while my boy needs to read both books a and b for all the levels. Every child is different. I normally advise parents to buy one book at a time, depending on the needs of the child.

I was at Popular yesterday and saw the Peter and Jane books on sale. However, the books are incomplete, a few of the \"a\" books are sold out. Wondering if I can get a \"b\" book for some levels instead, as the same words are repeated. What do you think?

Yes it is fine to use the "b" books if you cannot find the "a" books.
