      Blobbi:

Smells like election budget 😐 . Loads of goodies for the mass, lower income families, less property tax etc. Dunno about the very poorest in the rental flats though.

Do u think there are still too many lower income families i see lotsa ppl falling above that group already :?

There is nothing exciting abt this budget for the lower income families. Its like fine tuning the system. Removal of ppty taxes benefits the masses but the removal of the personal tax relief of $2,000 does make for the dip in ppty collections.

Personally, the topping up of medisave for the elderly has its medium term benefits of helping the poor in terms of health care issues. But its use of medisave is restricted and does not address the immediate concern of the elderly group.

That's because the people you see or are with belong to that group. Birds of the same feathers flock together?

Maybe its 4K per month n below :?

No, it's $4k per year. The current spouse relief claimed by husband is only if the wife doesn't earn more than $2k per year.

            (1) Is the spouse relef applicable to working women even if their hubby is working too?

            (2) Who defines the Annual Value of our hdb flat as this would determine the amount of property tax if we need to pay?
Annual Value determined by IRAS - you can log on with your Singpass to see what the annual value is currently.

Now, we're paying 4% flat on owner occupied property; new one will be 4% after the first $6,000, and below $64,999)

Unless you staying in fancy high end apartment, there will be savings - cos first 6K is now free. But when comes the day they hike AV (cos of ANTICIPATED increase in rental/whatever the rationale is), then the benefit will reduce a bit.

Thanks. I live in a hdb flat in Bukit Batok. I am looking forward to that little savings from the property tax which I am sure the government is confident to find more ways to claw back.

thought PAP is gearing up for GE this year, with the more distinctions between PR and citizen .....
