      Hi everyone,

I am looking at starting my son on ABA therapy. My current center does not provide this therapy. Is there any good ABA specialists to recommend ?

      Thanks !

        Hi,

I am mother to a 4yo ASD boy, currently waiting for entry to AAS Simei. Could like to know anyone here gives burdock (root veggie) to their kids, heard that it is good for mercury remover.... as ASD kids are supposed to have mercury overloaded in them

          Hi all,

My DH with dyspraxia and dyslexia will be attending P1 next year.
She is soooooo super excited but I am soooo worried!
I hope and pray that her teachers will be kind and patient with her.
Do any of you here heard of \"shadow teacher\"?
I am wondering if I should ask her school if I could stay quietly in class...
          :?

            dear funkymonkey

i have read about 'aides' in overseas school systems where a professional will stay quietly by the side of the child and guide him/her along especially on the social issues. but i have not heard about this in local schools when i talk to fellow parents whose kids are in primary school.

sorry that i am not solving your problem. my information may not be complete given that my dd is not at the P1 age yet.

what i want to say though is to congratulate you for coming this far. it is not easy to achieve the academic milestones for special needs children, and you definitely should celebrate in the midst of your worries, as your dd has done both herself and you and your dh proud. really.

so have a break, have a kit kat, and believe that things will turn out fine.

Yes, there is such a thing as \"shadow teachers\" in Spore schools.

In this instance, the shadow \"teacher\" is not a trained teacher but more like a teacher aide. The shadow teacher may be the domestic helper or someone who is trained to shadow teach. Usually, it is advisable not to shadow teach for one's child as the child may feel conscious/ clingy knowing that his/her parent is in the same classroom. I know of some friends who use their domestic helpers (their helpers are actually Filipino grads) or engage shadow teachers for their kids.

However, if it would make you feel better to be near your child, you can seek the school's permission to sit quietly in class. Alternatively, you can engage a shadow teacher or ask the school counsellor or an EP (educational psychologist) or therapist if they have someone in mind who could assist you.

I'm not sure of burdock as mercury remover but you can give your child chlorella and cilantro (part of the coriander family). The cilantro binds the mercury and the chlorella helps to expel the heavy metals from the body (thru bowel movement).

Some good brands: Source Naturals or Jarrows Yaeyama Chlorella.

Another way to detox heavy metals from the body is to have a foot soak in a tub of warm water mixed with Epsom salts. You can buy Epsom salts at Guardian Pharmacy.
