Thanks mummies for your support. Whenever my thoughts are shaken, you girls help me to straighten it out :snuggles:

Yes Double E, I totally agree with you. Sometimes the threapist tell me son cannot do this, dunno that... My Hb will say to me \"of cos he dunno, if he knows all these, why do we come here for. \"

Hahaha, ya lor. So far my boy's therapists haven't said such a thing. Just that he hasn't met the age appropriate milestones or just slower.

My boy's therapists give different opinions, some say I should pull him back or place him in special school because he isn't up to the level required for primary school, his language skill is only at kindergarten level blah blah (honestly, I see a couple of pathlight kids in my boy's speech therapy class do better than him). While some other, including the psychiatrist at IMH said better don't rock the boat since the school isn't complaining much nowadays and he didn't fail any of the subjects.

I was told not to give fish oil at night as it will make them alert and have difficulty sleeping.

Saw some posts regarding the link between ASD & MMR vaccine. The medical journal that published the paper which linked the 2 has retracted that paper. This should dispel any fear that parents may have regarding the MMR.

Yup, it was big news. But it seems the fine print is more complicated than that. I have not followed the exact MMR-autism debate closely though I follow news on vaccine injury after my son's experience with the DTaP.

Vaccine injury is recognized. It seems the take on this is that vaccine could lead to a reaction in a very small number of children, including encepathology, and this in turn could result to other conditions subsequently, including those that resembles autism. So there is no DIRECT causation and it is not proven that vaccines cause autism spectrum.

I know there are kids who did not receive vaccines and are still diagnosed with autism eventually, and I recognize the benefits of vaccines. But I also think it is important that parents recognize the signs of vaccine injuries and not be told that these do not exist. My son's first pd would not send in a report. His current pd will only do the compulsory jab in a hospital. Same kid, different reaction from dr.

I know this is an emotive topic, especially on a thread like this and I apologise for any hurt feelings. But it is important to know about these cases too.

I think there is another thread on vaccines, if the moderator feels it is more appropriate to move my posts there, please go ahead.

Happy snake year and happy valentine day to everybody.

Yes, lets hope for our kids continuous improvement.

I have been doing some reading these few days since I'm off from work.
Found something interesting for sharing. I think it is good to have 1-2 serving of eggs per day.

                    Mummies

I am contemplating to pull my boy out of his current CC and transfer him to a church kindy. We thought a kindy is closer to a mainstream primary setting and by sending him there, we can prepare him for P1. Another reason is that with the savings, we can send him to more activities like swimming and arts lesson.

What do you all think? But I worry if he can cope well in kindy as they have a larger teacher children ratio, usually 1 teacher to about 20 kids for K1 and K2. Also, he is currently doing fine in his CC, so far no unpleasant feedback on him from the teachers.

Will you make the move if you are in my shoe? the savings can be of $800 a mth which I can use to pay for extra lessons on swimming, social behavior classes.

My son was in a kindy before moving to cc. He couldn't cope with it then because of class size and a lot of independence is needed. I think u need to talk to the church kindy to see if they can handle. Because no point transferring, then find that they can't handle him. And like u say, the class size is bigger and so lesser attention can be given to your son.

And about swimming, I sent him once but realise no point coz he wasn't paying attention. Will send him again when he is older.

Thanks for the feedback. Really valuable for me to consider the kindy option carefully. I didn’t expect the class size to be so big till I asked the Principal.
So for your boy, does he have difficulty transiting from CC to mainstream primary cos the class size is so different??

I am going to visit two kindy, shall see how it goes. They have vacancies for him and his younger sis. The two kindys are Fairfield Methodist Church and Kay Poh Rd Baptist Church. Anyone has any feedback on these two kindys? Not much feedback on them online.
