Yesterday, my boy’s teacher told me she had difficulty getting him to stay in position for a school performance as he tends to run away or dance out of position and block other kids. She asked me for tips.
I spoke to his therapist and was told that the teacher can write down step by step instruction for him and make him a square for him to stand in. I called his teacher to tell her what she can do and today, she what’s app me said my suggestions worked. He can dance better and not block others. She also sent me an image of the instructions she wrote down for him, step by step, total 10 instructions.
At this moment, I just want to thank God for blessing my boy with angels like his teacher and therapists for going all out to help him. -

Double E, This is so nice.
My son is also performing at his K2 graduation class. I am really looking forward to it.
I still remembered my dance performance in k2 grad. I did a pom pom dance during my time. :rahrah:
Recently during one of DS enrichment classes, I peeped at him and saw him dancing with the class too. Although his movements are slower, but he attempt to keep up.
After that class, hb and me told him that we saw him dancing and he dance so well. And he said \"I don't want you to look at me, next time don't look\".
I guessed he find us distracting. Lol.
I better prep him to say we will be attending his graduation and will be looking at him dancing on that day. -

Or he could be shy. Actually ASD kids do have some social cues and self-awareness. My boy don't let pple whom he is not close to to see him shower, he will tell the person to go away.Double E, This is so nice.

Hi,
I’ve been stalking this thread for a while…
My boy is in K2 and all I know is he’s complaining about having to stand a long time during the rehearsals…"such a tiring day" he says. haha The other comment he made was, "I’m not in the story" (apparent the different levels will be acting out different stories…he’s the narrator with one opening line.)
He’ll be going for the social skills class (for kids going to P1 next yr) organised by KKH CDC starting soon. Anyone else going?
Double E, my boy’s the same…after swimming, he refuses to shower in the boys’ changing room and so we always had to wait for the "infant changing room" (cos he’s too old for me to bring him to the female one and I’m not sure about letting him go to the male one on his own…)
