Btw you can enrol your son in childcare centres that take in kids with autismIf I can't effort eipic n private therapist any other oPtion I hav in Singapore ?
Cuz my son need to be in full time child care centre too. I dun hav extra already. I need to work full time to finance my family.
. I understand that teachers in these centres have been specially trained to help kids with special needs, plus the fees at these centres are similar to what other normal childcare centres are charging. I believe he will thrive better in such childcare centre than in ordinary ones.
And following is one such childcare group:
http://www.pcs.org.sg/iccp.html
INTEGRATED CHILDCARE PROGRAMME (ICCP)
The ICCP is an inclusive programme provided in existing Child Care Centres which allows children, age 2-6 years, with special needs to learn alongside their regular peers. The ICCP aims to provide a natural environment for the child to learn, play, socialize and grow up in. It helps to prepare the child for entry into primary school later.
The programme is available in selected childcare centres. These centres have teachers who are specially trained to address the learning and social needs of the child. The physical classroom environment is also designed to cater to children with special needs and specially designed teaching materials may be used.
Our 6 ICCP centres supported and funded by the Ministry of Community Development, Youth & Sports (MCYS), are:
Ang Mo Kio Childcare Centre
Hougang Childcare Centre
Jurong Childcare Centre
Tampines Childcare Centre
Woodlands Childcare Centre
Yishun Childcare Centre
-

You can try to speak to the social workers. I am sure there will be able to help you.
Yes I went but still confuse about the pricing . And it's seems expensive too s$400 plus . Dun think I can substain and private even worst. So am thinking are there anymore social or other place cheaper.
Social worker at eipic give tons of papers.Gosh cAnt they simplify paper n procedure .
Most patent present at eipic session are w private .
EIPIC shld be the cheapest therapy session already as its heavily subsidize by govt. -

1. Daily childcare and with a few days at EIPIC.
2. Daily EIPIC with a few days of childcare.
3. Daily childcare, no EIPIC, and with few days of SLT and other relevant areas of therapy.
4. Daily EIPIC, no childcare, and with few days of SLT and other relevant areas of therapy.
the choice is dependent on various factors such as affordability, logistics support. pros and cons for each option.
for myself, I am currently on (4) but considering adding on childcare because I have increasingly come to believe that interactions with neurotypical kids in mainstream environment is important. but there are currently considerable challenges that I am trying to overcome.
Hope this helps. -
Watching Temple Grandin now on HBO Signature tonite.
Even when the world turned its back on Temple, she was able to overcome her challenges and difficulties through her resilience and determination to make good of her life. Her mother’s unwavering love and a dedicated educator and mentor, who believed in her helped her to make a positive difference.
Claire Dane, the actress was really good in portraying Temple in this movie. Kudos to her. -

I am thankful that I am blessed with 3 kids, even though one of them is HF ASD, but I still love him dearly. Given a chance to choose all over again, I still want my ASD son to be my son. I truly love him dearly..
This is so heart-warming nugget!
Yes, I love my elder boy too although he is quite different. 4+ yo still cannot talk like his peers and whining so much! But he is quite a character and really interesting to watch. For some reasons our whole family love to watch him and find what he is doing so interesting. This include his baby brother who laughs and chuckles so loudly whenever he sees his elder brother scooting around on his glider scooter!
Yes, he has a label which I am only half-believing (this keeps me sane) although extra effort definitely needs to be put in to help him along for his kindy and daily living life skills.
For me too, given the opportunity to choose again, I would choose my elder boy as my son too! He is simply enchanting! -

Hi DesertWind,
Both our boys are of the same age. Ya they are very sensitive people. Even though they are in this current condition, they do bring us a lot of joy as well.
Now I am starting to look for Primary School for my boy already. Wanted to find one school with a good support for him. -

i just went to rent it today , wasn't expecting to find it, but i can't really watch it online at all .
just finished watching it a while ago. alot of scenes of ring a bell of how my daughter behaves similiarly , sensory overloading issues.
it is really worth watching.
makes me understand why my daughter behaves the way she is at times.
our kids are \"different, but definately not less\" :snuggles:
I watch this show yesterday already. My tears just keep flowing.. its so overwhelming for me. It seems like its a long journey for our kid to be accepted by friends and society.
I end up not only really feel more inspired but also more worried
But now Temple Grandin have became my idol. I want to buy her books and read.. -

hi nugget :snuggles:
i understand what you mean, i get worried alot at times too about my daughter.
but what the therapist told me before is quite true too, God takes away some of their skills but give them other skills instead.
my daughter tho is high functioning autism, but she learns things at an amazing speed with a very good memory. she is quite good in art and reading too.
tell me some skills that our kids here have? :please:
i am sure every one of our kids here have a gift that other kids do not have. my daughter tho is still picking up in her social skills with kids her age, but she is very good with adults. the allied educator and teacher told me it is a joy to have her in class as she is always smiling
i believe that when this door closes, another door will open up for them. and my bond with my daughter has become closer after knowing and learning about her condition. I believe all of us here feel this way too.
