My gal who is in K2 joined their liftoff program at the then Kovan now Serangoon branch at the beginning of this year. The assessor thought launchpad might be too easy n suggested liftoff even though she has no phonics background except watching dvd. ICR assessed her and she couldnt make it to the ICR program n they suggested prelims. Really thankful for that as it saved us some money and she is able to complete the 9 months course while in K2. She is doing well now and definitely more confident and is able to read independently except more difficult words. She also enjoyed reading to my 3yo boy. Just to share my experience and will start my boy earlier than his sister.

H dongle, is your gal doing pfs after liftoff? How do u find the pfs?

Similar things happen to my boy, ICR accessed him & suggested Prelims, Lcentral actually suggested Launch pad, due to timing & location, we choose Lcentral.

When my boy went for his first lesson at launch pad, teacher felt that his standard should be at lift off level instead of launch pad, she took the effort to re-access him after his lesson (initially access was done at another branch) & upgrade him to liftoff.
He will complete his liftoff by early next year and he is progressing well, i am so glad & thankful that we don’t have to waste the time & money to go thru launch pad which is ~ 3 - 9 mths duration & we really can see his tremendous improvement after his liftoff lesson, he can read confidently & independently.
