      Dear HappyAvon,

Thank you for your kind feedbacks.

May i know the reason for switching your child from ICR to Lcentral? Any homework to do @Lcentral?

What kind of book is your child reading now? Is she an advance learner? Do you read with/to her daily? Or it is purely the effort of Lcentral?

My son 4.5yo reads P&J 5a. Some pages he read well some pages he could not. Overall, i will rate as 60%. He isn’t keen to read P&J.

I want to send him to Lcentral starting Jan 2011. So now i am gathering more information.

Hi charmaine, she is getting bored with ICR...will bring back a storybook with 3 simple stories to read...seems nothing new to her n so brought her to lcentral for a trial n she said she likes it..is the same centre where she is having her speech n drama..we had not been reading to her for a very long time..she is an independent reader and will choose the books she wanted to read by herself..she din enjoy P&J but prefers robin series.she reads a lot on robin series..now she reads everything if she finds the book interesting..currently she is reading magic kitten- a summer spell by Sue Bently...whenever she cannot understand any difficult words, she will tell us and we will explain....

Homework in lcentral is minimum but they have spelling list every week...this week's spelling list is middle, bundle, jungle, bottle, kettle, buckle, ankle etc..when she can read, spelling is easy peasy for them...just look thru the list once n can spell...no drilling required....

I guess the efforts goes to us...kekeke...cos we sent her for phonics class when she was 3 yrs old and we read to her every nite when she was smaller..I think early exposure is beneficial for the child if she/he enjoys it..

I went down to LCentral at jurong east yesterday. The recept told me that their centre as a whole has been set up for 2 yrs and their last yr psle passing rate was merely 34%+. they dun hv many students. I was shocked.

            Hi HappyMum2,

Do you mean out of 100%, only 34% passed their PSLE?

Oh it's shocking! So the rest of the 66% in Lcentral did not pass? Or could it be it's new, 2 years there are not so much students yet??

                  Hi,
66% did not pass at LCentral??? :!:
Is it possible that she's referring to only 34% passed with A & A*?? :?
Students need to score 75% and above to score A & 91% and above to score A*.

                      Hi Tinkerbelle,

I think we need to ask Lcentral Jurong East on the fact. If it's true that only 34% of the students pass, then I wouldn't want to consider signing my kids.

But if it's only 34% passed with A & A*, then it's fine, at least only then attending enrichment lessons, home based learning play a part to succeed too.
