We used Collins Movers when we moved from Singapore to New Zealand. My sister in law used them when she moved to Toronto Canada too.

They were great! No breakage and on time. Was able to liaise with the other side to coordinate the move for us. No issue with customs etc as well.

RE: To migrate or not?
vinegar:
I went on a few look-see look-see trips. We visited schools, talked to headhunters, look around the different neighbourhoods etc - basically to get a feel of the lifestyle over there.lovejoypeace,

RE: To migrate or not?
Well, I took the plunge and migrated to NZ since last May.
So far I am enjoying the life over here. I still eat out a fair bit and Asian food is so available here. Almost everything I can get in Singapore, I can get it here.
My dds are enjoying their high school life here. Doing things at their pace instead of being pressured to excel. Less stress and thank God, no more tuition. Now they take classes where they have interest in and want to instead of being forced to. Family life has improved leaps and bounds. Where previously the maid is around at our beck and call, now we all chipped in to help in household chores. Kids are more sensible and we talked more as a family. Where previously I am keeping to a 15 hour work schedule, now I am home at 6pm every day.
I guess you need to decide what is your reason for uprooting your family. You must have thought about it before applying for the PR. Will you regret a few years down the road? No one can tell but will you blame yourself for not trying out if you decided to stay put?
Take time to know friends and get to know your new country. If you hold the same expectations, you are bound to be disappointed. Move with the flow and you will be happier. -

RE: Need advise for low t-score
In my opinion, if can go express, better to choose express. Who knows, he might be motivated enough to work harder next year.

RE: Is 15 years old too young to send overseas for studies?
Just to share with you an email I received from her english teacher
“She has certainly settled into her new school environment very well and demonstrated that she is a conscientious and hard-working student. She takes pride in her work and completes tasks to a high standard. She is not afraid ask questions or seek clarification if she needs it.
Her first formal assessment for the year will be a literary essay. The essay will be based on short stories we have been studying in class. Before undertaking the task, students will be provided with a thorough overview of the essay writing process and look at exemplars. I am sure she has done essay writing at her previous school, but I will ensure she is adequately supported for this assessment.
I look forward to helping her achieve her goals in English this year and am sure she will make some excellent contributions…”
I am happy that she is doing well and her teacher is very generous with her comments. I believe she has not received such encouragement from her previous teachers before…
She is also on track to get her skipper license soon and she will be going for her first Sailing lesson next week.
I am very happy for her and I can see she enjoys going to school now. Eventhough I miss her dearly…I think in the long run, it will help her more. -
RE: Is 15 years old too young to send overseas for studies?
I did consider putting her in the international schools here as I will have her close to me but after checking with the international schools, I realised they do not take in normal academic kids. So no choice but to look overseas.

RE: Is 15 years old too young to send overseas for studies?
She is the shy sensitive type so I am quite surprised that she settles down very fast. I guess alot has to do with the homestay parents, the teachers and the fact they get a buddy to accompany her throughout the first few weeks that helped make the transistion so much better. When I was there with her, I can sense the warmth of the teachers when they speak to her and this attitude is not just to her as an international student but to the rest of the student population as well.
I paid a total of $27,000 for her school +homestay fees. If you calculate it based on a monthly figure, it is around $2300 a month. -

Glad to hear that. Please let me know if you need any information etc. I will be happy to assist.
Just got some glowing reports from the teachers there. I have not heard such comments when she was here in Singapore. Hopefully she will continue her love for studying and the momentum will stays. :imcool:
