Hi, I am a parent of 2 kids in NHPS and stay in Woodlands. Kids attend Nanscans in the afternoon. However, as there is no school transport to Woodlands area, wonder if there is any chance of carpool with parent who stay at Woodlands and fetches kids from Nanscans in the evening. Hubby fetches kids to school in the AM but we have problem fetching them home in the evening from Nanscans. Pls PM me. Thanks

Wonder if someone can comment on cma vs crestar? My elder has been with cma for 2 yrs. So far we are happy with his progress. However my younger one has abacus conducted at her childcare by crestar. I m tempted to take it up due to convenience. Thanks

Hi, my son is interested in golf and table tennis. He was also asked to sing and was told that he should join the choir. Wonder if table tennis training is tough and if he should join in P1? Is P2 too late for training?

A very important factor we consider when my child took up a particular CCA is passion. It is good that your son is interested in golf and table tennis. Another factor is whether my child will be able to continue the CCA in secondary school. I am not very sure about golf and choir but table tennis is definitely a popular sport in many secondary schools. Some of our girls table tennis team members have successfully gained admission into top secondary schools like RGS and NYGH. One of our boys team members is currently in Singapore Sports School.

I do not consider Table Tennis training as tough.

Like what I mentioned in my previous post, the Chinese start training as early as 5 years old or even younger. So normally I would recommend parents to send their kids to STTA Clementi Training Centre (Clementi Sports Hall) to train under Xu Jiaolian where the training are more systematic, provided if you have the time and willing to cash out about $150 a month. If not, you can just join the school Table Tennis CCA. A good piece of news is that our school has just hired the service of a very good coach.

Likewise for boys, they will able to use Table Tennis to DSA into RI, HCI, etc.

      Thanks nhps2012 for your advice!!

      hi parents,

i have a few questions about CCA. My child is P1 this year. Is it ok for her to join more than one CCA?

is the canteen still open after 1.30pm so that the pupils can get lunch before their CCA in the afternoon?

Also, will there be school bus service to send yhe pupil home after CCA?

Thanks for any information to the above.

My children join at least 3 CCAs during their time. So as parents we need to judge if our children are able to cope. The advantage for you is that P1 there will be no exam. Personally, I feel that in P1 and P2, you should try out a few then come P3 you narrow down to 1 or 2. P1/2 workload is not that great, but bear in mind at end of P2 they will be stream into top 2 classses.

The canteen is still open after 1.30pm, pupils can get lunch before their CCA/enrichment/sup/rem classes.

The school bus service used to provide one more trip around (4pm?) to send the pupil home after CCA/enrichment/sup/rem classes. I am not sure of the current arrangement, but I think it should be the same. You may want to check with them.

So did your girl attend the CCA recruitment day last saturday. Is she interested to join Table Tennis.
may i know what is the reason you dd cannot stand her?

Mine stopped after 1 semester. Absolutely no chemistry with teacher, nearly killing the joy of learning music. Teacher super super stern & fierce, only keep criticising saying 'no no no', 'wrong wrong wrong' and keep repeating 'fingers up high' :slapshead:
So may I know if your kid is currently learning from a private teacher or at another school?

Any mummies have any recommendation of good teachers or any comments on Forte Academy?

Does your boy like his existing nafa teacher? If he's fine with that teacher, can continue as private student.

Actually my dd's ex-nafa teacher hint hint a few times she's teaching privately. But out of question because my dd absolutely couldn't stand that teacher

I have asked his NAFA teacher but she said her schedule is all packed. I asked if she knows of any colleagues that can take private teachers but she said they are all full. šŸ˜ž
