mamamiya:Since DSA 2017 is over, I am seeking the advice of experienced parents here - my ds is in P5, any parents whose kids has successfully DSAed into HCI or RI, can share your experience and if there's any advice for those parents whose kids would be trying next year, please?
Anyone knows anything abt the Science or Maths camp that HCI conduct every year for the P6? I heard that if your ds does well, it will help with their DSA. How to join these camps? Can advise? Wonder if RI also have such camps?
Thanks in advance!
DSA criteria and selection exercise might totally change next year. As for HCI Science and Maths camp, it is related to SMOPS. Kids who get Platinum or Gold in SMOPS are invited to 2 days HCI camp where they are divided into groups and given various task in Maths and Science to perform as a group and observed by teachers or Seniors. They interact with Seniors and teachers during the camp.
During DSA Selection interview, group interview were conducted and they were video recorded. Some questions where asked to specific student and they were suppose to answer that and some were generally asked to see who leads the team with what kind of answers.
As for RI it does help if your child gets into top 20 of RI maths olympiad though thats not the only criterion it does play a very important role.
Hope that helps.
