Sorry for late reply, it has been so busy in both work and monitoring my son.
Thank you very much for your encouragement and sharing of experience.
My Chinese is quite good, but I am not able to coach my son well in his Chinese, this really beat me badly.
His comprehension and also composition are quite bad, always RED.
Now, I always give a lot of encouragement to him, ask him to think positively, and keep on telling him he can do it, and how important is Chinese subject. These few days I can see some improvement, I hope he can continue. This was partly because I have confiscated his HP, because he is always distracted by his HP. Every time if we return his HP to him, his result will dropped. Before CA1, we already told him that we will confiscate his HP if he is not doing well in his CA1.
We told him we do not need him to score A, but B is enough.
Now, I would like to know and appreciate if anybody can share the good technique to improve composition and oral test, as well how to make him remember the vocabulary better.
Actually, I am also pretend that I don’t know certain words or make mistake on purpose, let him correct me. And yes this actually built his confident.

Dear parents

I need help.
My son doesn’t like Chinese at all. It is always very tough to teach him Chinese. His chinese exam result keep on dropping and the last CA1 he has failed his chinese.
Can anyone tell me how can I help him ? I am very depressed about this. My son very playful but he is good for rest of the subjects, especially Math is his strength. But if he failed Chinese in his PSLE, it will definitely pull his score down.
I am very helpless and depress.
Please tell me how to teach a child who does not like Chinese ? How to improve his chinese as we left 6 months to PSLE…

Hello… It seems this forum is not very active as nobody answer the last question from the parent. But I would like to raise my questions as my DD was posted to BPGH for her Sec 1 next year.

Can any parents/ students from BPGH share :
1) The School time and recess time ?
2) How much per meal will cost ? example one plate of rice. I need to have an idea how much should I give for her pocket money. Is the canteen stall selling good food ?
3) usually when is the CCA time ?
4) Which CCA is strong in BPGH ? Art / Uniform / etc…
5) do they need to stay back everyday ?

Any other comment about this school is welcome to share. Thanks a lot !

Hi, my children are currently attending True Learning Centre in Jurong. They will be in P5, Sec 2 and Sec 4 next year. The tutors such as Mr Goh, Mr Xiao and Mr Bok are very experienced secondary math teachers who have taught my two older children while Mr Oo and Miss Angeline are the ones who taught my boy who will be in P5. Overall, this centre has helped my children improve and they found the lessons beneficial.

Hi, if your dd doesn't get her first choice NJC then yes you can try to appeal. The thing you still need to do (whether or not you want to appeal and change school), is to report with your dd to her posted sec school on 23 dec (this is the date known so far, subject to change). There are certain admin matters to attend to such as school fee payment mode (giro etc), purchase text books, uniform etc (that's what i understand from other parents). You may wish not to purchase uniform as yet.. but if appeal results are not out when school term starts in Jan suggest to buy uniform still so your dd doesn't \"stand out\" in her primary sch uniform. You will need to submit your appeal form (and other required documents) to NJC as soon as you are ready(i think most schools accept the appeals starting 20 dec). There is no guarantee appeal will be successful but good to try if it is your choice school. Some schools require interview etc. before granting a place to you. It is common to only know the results of your appeal end of the year just before the new year or even when school starts term 1 in Jan.. we may try to appeal too.. all the best!

I have just submitted the appeal form to NJC as they did not say need to wait till posting result, except those already have DSA should not submit. I am trying our luck and hopefully they can consider.

If I don't hear from them on posting day (20/12) and NJC did not takes
her on posting day, I will still go to the posted school for reporting on 23/12.

Anyway, they said the result will be out latest by 31/12/13 (although I found it is a bit late because i might have bought the uniform and text book) and school term will starts on 6/1/14.

Whatever a mother can do, already done. Now I can only :xedfingers:

Hi kn1106!

If I am not wrong, the appeal seems to be directed at unsuccessful DSA applicants to NJC when PSLE results were released. It would be strange to appeal when applying in the S1 application period! Did DD try the DSA to NJC?

Then again I may be wrong!

I guess the best is to call the office line 6466 1144 to confirm its intention.

I believe the COP should go down for 2013.

No, she didn't take any DSA. Some told me I can appeal now because they are opened for appeal now.
So I have just sent out the appeal form online.
