insider:I believe there are many parents out there who have to learn this from you. Too often are there primary school kids with phones more powerful than mine.I just bought for my mum a new 'old man' Samsung phone from Samsung shop to replace her faulty piece at about $119. That kind big big characters, loud loud one, that can only voice call / receive and receive/send sms (but my mum doesnt use sms).
When my P4 son asked for a phone, I told him to wait till Sec 1.
Then he asked what kind of phone.
I replied, something like what Ah Mah is using.
Then he, 'Huh?'
I said take it or leave it.
Then he said, \"Deal!'
I added if he can show me he knows how to handle the basic phone responsibly (no excessive sms, no abusive use, don't lose it frequently, etc), then by 17 years old he may get his first smartphone...

not just kids, right? Adults also sama sama...
Agree.
Guilty here, even hubby complain no attention & not a supporter of KSP :rotflmao: :rotflmao: . That's why we are trying to make an effort to put the phone aside during all gatherings......hopefully to set example for the kids too.
True. But for working adults like us, we need to be contactable for various reasons. The kids basically have their friends in the same class. Maybe they are texting their boyfriends/girlfriends from other school uh? -
RE: 'Phone' Culture in schools
A few teacher friends of mine told me this growing culture on separate occasions.
During CCA camps, there are bound to have cohesion games such as ‘Captain’s ball’, Frisbee and other team sports played to improve student bonding etc. But however, these teachers told me that the students are not as proactive as we were when we were younger. The kids will congregate and talk with their faces buried in their phones.
So far, I’ve heard similar stories from 3 different schools and I’m afraid that this may grow to become a dominant culture in years to come. What will happen to social interaction by then? -
RE: Chicken pox
My daughter is going through the ‘chicken pox’ phase, but has yet to recover. Just as a precaution in case there will be scarring after her recovery.
What do you all recommend to remove them? Preferably looking for inexpensive solutions before I bring her to the doctor.
