Hi parents, Disclosure: I’m a Singapore parent and the creator of 妙笔华文 Wonder Chinese. I started building this app for my own son because he could recognise some Chinese words, but struggled to construct complete sentences and use descriptive expressions naturally. After practising with the app, I have seen a clear improvement in his writing. For the same scene or situation, he can now think of more ways to describe the character’s feelings, expressions and actions, instead of repeatedly using simple words such as 开心, 难过 or 害怕. For example, instead of only writing: 老师表扬我，我很开心。 He is learning to write: 听见老师表扬我，我高兴得眉开眼笑，脚步也轻快起来。 More importantly, he is beginning to understand that the same feeling can be expressed in different ways. Depending on the situation, he may use an expression, action or physical reaction rather than simply naming the emotion. That improvement encouraged me to develop the app further and make it available to other families. The aim is not to give children one model answer to memorise. Wonder Chinese guides them step by step—from understanding and handwriting useful words to constructing sentences and developing short paragraphs. Children can practise: Listening to and understanding vocabulary Handwriting Chinese with a stylus or handwriting input Building sentences in the correct order Using expressions in suitable situations Improving their own sentences with personalised guidance Revising previously learnt words through Memory Challenges Exercises are adjusted from P1 to P6, with Singapore settings and English explanations in key areas.
