Hey Kiasuparents, We’re Bit by Bit Coding, a groundup that teaches Python for free. No catch, no fees, no experience prerequisites, and no “premium track” hidden behind paywalls. Our mission is to remove financial barriers to deep technical literacy. BbB acts as the zero-cost capstone bridge for passionate students, teaching them data structures, object-oriented programming, and foundational AI/ML at zero cost. We are recognised under the BAGUS Together ecosystem (an initiative by NVPC, Temasek Foundation, and Tote Board), supported by the Singapore Government Partnerships Office (under MCCY), and currently run our main cohorts out of *SCAPE Singapore. We’re also an official programme under Temasek Foundation’s OSCAR Fund. Our work is supported by partners like MSF ComLink+ and Club Rainbow. Term 2 starts mid-July Taster: 4-weeks, no selection tests, no commitment! (Try out the BbB pedagogy, build bonds with like-minded youth, tackle interesting problems, and build the foundation for the next step.) After the four weeks, we’ll ask you if you want to continue. We select the cohort for the 12-weeks from our taster. Slots are highly limited to keep the student-to-tutor ratio low, so that every student can get the best support. Beginner -> Intermediate: 12-weeks, handpicked group of highly-motivated students who want to learn to code and benefit the community. (Our flagship Python programme designed by our highly experienced tutors and industry experts. Highly beginner-friendly, yet rigorous enough for you to build things for the causes you care about.) DON’T MISS OUT: Students who finish our Python core will be offered placements in our future AI/ML and robotics courses, developed and delivered in conjunction with highly experienced industry experts. What you’ll actually learn: Weeks 1–4 (Taster): Python basics — variables, control flow, loops Weeks 5–16 (Beginner→Intermediate): Lists, dicts, functions, File I/O, recursion, sorting algorithms, OOP, linked lists, binary trees — and a 3-week hackathon with prizes Who’s this for? Anyone aged 13–22. Sec 1, sec 4, JC, Poly, ITE or Homeschool. If you’ve never touched code or you’ve been messing around in Scratch and want something real, this is it. Our past cohorts had >75% first-time coders. You don’t need prior experience! What you need: A laptop (or Chromebook/iPad + keyboard) Curiosity Commitment to show up for the lessons Willingness to uplift your community What you don’t need: Money (it’s free) Good grades Experience with coding Why we exist: We filled the gap between free intro programmes (Code for Fun, Code in the Community — mostly Scratch) and private enrichment that costs hundreds a month. We’re recognised under BAGUS Together (NVPC, Temasek Foundation, Tote Board), supported by the Singapore Government Partnerships Office (SGPO, MCCY) and an official programme of the OSCAR fund by the Temasek Foundation. Our tutor team boasts volunteer tutors from NUS, NTU, SP, NYP, HCI and VJC, as well as industry experts. We’re building a community of inspiring students, professionals and changemakers looking to create a space for youths to explore, to learn, to grow, and then to love. For far too long, coding has been locked behind stereotypes (of what it is, and who gets to learn it) and expensive programmes. Bit by Bit aims to shatter those misconceptions and build a community of like-minded youths and mentors who believe that coding is not just a hobby, but a tool for tangible social change. We believe that Bit by Bit is, in some tangible, meaningful way, a revolution in the way that we think about coding, and about who gets to learn it. Come learn a new skill! Hello! I am a student currently in JC1 conducting a study on children’s screen time before bedtime and possible alternatives to digital device usage for children aged 3-6. We have developed several proposed solutions and would like to gather parents’ honest opinions and feedback to help us improve them. Your responses will provide valuable insights for our research. Eligibility for the survey: Parents with children aged 3-6 Time required: Approximately 5 minutes Confidentiality: All responses are strictly anonymous and used solely for academic purposes Survey link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSd_0JLYECJ7ws3sx2i54ScbAIrlF8vUjRxD1vUtQ5dcS3TjGg/viewform?usp=sharing&ouid=113059747192497906778 Thank you so much for your time and for supporting our project research! If there are any questions, please reply to this post. Thank you!

Hi guys, just wanted to share a little passion project born out of pure parenting desperation. My teenager spends way too many hours gaming, so a while back I challenged them to do something productive with that screen time instead. We decided to try building a YouTube channel together, “Uncle Ben,” dropping rap tracks about uniquely Singaporean quirks (like hawker choping rules, $300 tray fines, and policy payouts). It’s been a crazy learning curve for the kid, but the hawker rules video surprisingly just hit 38k views (gaining tons of support from across the causeway too!). Just wanted to share this here to see if you guys have any feedback and to show that sometimes you can actually turn heavy screen time into a real, high-effort skill. Drop some love if you find it relatable! https://youtu.be/TtQB512Zj1Y?si=zAtoftMEcMXkY15X

Hi all, Recently I build a O level oral exam simulator for my youngest brother. He and his friends are loving and and wanted to share with parents with kids doing O level this year. It works like your GCE O level english oral and the rubrics and feedback is benchmarked against MOE standards. Do give it a try as it is free: https://easyoral.com Sharing some screenshots from my brother’s practice [image: WhatsApp Image 2026-05-28 at 6.51.41 PM.jpeg] ![WhatsApp Image 2026-05-28 at 6.51.40 PM.jpeg]

Hi all, last week I noticed my unread messages for the day were gone, and when I went into my primary device (the phone, obviously), I noticed an unknown Firefox browser was added to my Linked Devices! Has anyone encountered this before? I don’t use WhatsApp web or desktop!

This news came up yesterday: https://www.channelnewsasia.com/world/dutch-watchdog-launches-roblox-probe-over-risks-children-5896211 My son plays Roblox — he’s 15, and he has told me that he makes friends or texts via Roblox. I don’t pry or check his phone, but we have this understanding: Don’t reveal personal info Don’t send pictures Don’t meet I’m not very “hard-sell” in terms of educating my kids on online harms. I use WhatsApp Status to share interesting snippets of my day in there, and if do see something newsworthy, that I think they should know about, I’ll share it there. Whether they want to check it out, it’s still their call.

@lakshmiSG563 said in Do Kitchen Hoods and Hobs Need to Be Bought Together?: Not necessarily, but it can definitely help! Purchasing a hood and hob together is beneficial for compatibility in size, suction power, and aesthetics. Matched sets casino can enhance performance with features like auto-synchronization. However, it’s not mandatory to buy them together; mixing brands is possible if the hood’s extraction power matches the hob’s size and styles complement each other. Has anyone else had success with mixing or preferred a matched set? I’ve seen it work both ways. Matched sets are definitely convenient and look cohesive, but plenty of people mix brands without any issues as long as the extraction rate and sizing are right. It really comes down to priorities — seamless integration vs. flexibility in choosing the best individual components.
