Thank you for your clarification.
Yes, I should say \"2 of the top girls\", who's 3rd top girl in class 13?
so far, I only knew QIU biqing and Michelle LIM, if I am not wrong, Michelle LIM (286) should be 2nd ranked gilr among all female students, just behind QIU biqing. CHEN muhe from NYPS got 287, he is top student among all male students.

Hi Fairy, if I am not wrong, your boy was from RI right, do you have any idea how the class allocation was done? Can share ? Thank you
Any idea how the class allocation was done? I'm very sure it is not based on T-score as some of my daughters' friends with lower T-scores are posted to one of the last 4 classes.
Probably you can share it at the RI forum, thanks -
Anyone who has any idea of how RI allocate the sec 1 classes please help, see you at RI forum and thanks.
Have a nice day everyday and cheers. -
Hi wmd,
There are actually 3 girls ranked higher than Michelle Lim.[/quote]
Thanks Dharma for your contribution.
Hi wmd,
You're very welcome.
If I'm not wrong, the list released by MOE is more or less according to T-scores, with the 'invisible' 6 decimal places which we don't get to see. We only see the absolute scores. Nevertheless, I feel that there is really very little separating these top pupils as exams can be very unpredictable. Change another set of papers/markers (especially for the composition papers) and I'm sure the rankings within the top 13 will also change.
It is quite futile obssessing over who is ranked where. They are all equally outstanding students and may I add, not only this 13 top pupils but the many who did well enough to enter RGS. All of the girls are academically-inclined and have the potential to go far in whatever field they choose in future. Just my 2 cts worth! -
Can’t agree more, applecore.
My posting was with intention of correcting the inaccurate info. by another forummer.

Well said. -
I totally agree with ezmum and applecore. I don’t really see the need to sieve out the better classes from the rest. PSLE is already over. Good grades at PSLE may not translate to similar success at secondary level. Afterall, secondary school is a different ball game.
Here’s wishing all RGS sec 1 girls a smooth transition to a brand new school life! -
Hi ! Can any kind soul please enlighten me with regards to the calculation of exam scores in RGS? In the handbook given out to year 1s, on top of the usual 7 subjects (EL, MT, Maths, Science, Lit., History & Geog.), there are another few (like Art, Music, Food & Nutrition etc) grouped under 'Aesthetics' as examinable subjects. Does this mean that the individual scores here can also be considered as 'core' subjects and used to calculate the final GPA ? Or are pupils only given grades for these subjects ? How many core subjects are there in total to choose from for the final computation ? By electives, do I presume correctly that the subjects are 3rd language & the special programmes only ? :?
I would also like to enquire about merit-core CCAs. I understand that some merit CCAs allow selected Sec 1s to take them as core CCAs, while several others (eg. PA/photography/tribune) only allow them to start taking them as core CCAs in Sec 2, if they had performed well in that CCA in Sec 1. Does anyone know which CCAs start allowing Sec 1s to take them as core, if deemed good enough ?
Thank you !!!
