Funx3:
Thanks! Is there a particular approved model of calculator? Can they use the one they used for PSLE? Computer purchases are my husband's job, but I will remind him. OK, added tie, badge and name tag to the list. Is the house colour reflected on the badge, or is it the year? If it's year, which colour should I get? I guess we won't know the house until later.
Don't forget the sch ties - 1 set (can get from bibi & baba)!jtoh:
Simkhoo,
Uniform - pinafore and shirt - 2-3 sets, depending on how fast you launder. I say 3 is more comfortable.
Culottes - 1
PE t-shirt and shorts - PE is twice a week so 1-2 sets, depending on how fast you launder. There will also be house T-shirts and CCA t-shirts which your dd might purchase along the way.
All the above, except the house and CCA t-shirts, are available from bibi & baba.
Calculator, get from Popular in sch, and get sch approved sticker at general office ($1).
Sch badge - from PB, Name tag - order from Popular ($3 for 2 pc).
And .... Errrrr ....
A MacBook (Air or Pro)!
Our gals can't live without it
When will your gal sit for the placement tests? R there many papers she's going to be tested on?
Placement tests are scheduled for the week before school begins as we only get back in mid-June. She will be tested on English, Maths and Science. I've been given a list of topics for Maths and Science, and English will be Compre and Compo. -

Name tag reflects the year. Year 2s are yellow. You can get it from the bookshop. House color is based on your dd's class. Calculator is different from that used in PSLE.

Hi
Just want to check if anyone is going for the "Tea session with the Principal" on the 10 May.
Both dd n myself getting very excited. Can anyone share their experience in the past years. -
We have received an invitation from RGS to have \"Tea session with the Principal\" on the 10 May.
Both dd n myself are very excited and looking forward.
We were told by the school that dd is talented scouted. What's the chance of getting into RGS ?
Have anyone in the Forum has experience in the past year ?

Firstly, congrats to yr gal for doing well in her academics in her primary sch...(upper levels)
Btw, the invitation \" Tea session with the Principal \" from RGS is not something new....
it has been ongoing for the past few yrs....some other schs are also having similar sessions....
I happened to talk about it under the DSA thread.....repost below fyi....
Actually, nothing much.....
It is juz a talk where the prinicipal talks abt the school and its achievements, what CCAs the sch offers....etc....
of coz, it includes the Q and A session....
And then followed by some refreshments....
Yr gal still has to go thru the whole DSA process....( either via academics or other talents)
Juz like the rest of the applicants, if u are interested in their DSA....Augmum:
I think such practice is getting more common nowadays....letters/ Cards of invitation to DSA to Top Sec Schs.....ngl2010:
I don't know whether it is common practice or not but I heard some girls schools will have some students invited to have tea with principal of some top girls school? I think I read somewhere in KSP.
Yes, i had posted that info in KSP b4 .....
Few yrs ago, my gal already received such letter/ Card of invitation...
What i was told was that....
The P of the Top Sch (for my gal's case is RGS) wrote in to some primary schs ( esp all girls' pri schs)
To request fr the sch, the names and particulars of their Top few students in the level ( based on sch results)
And the invitation letters/cards \"Tea with the Principal\" would be forwarded to the respective student....
Marketing strategy ??
