      Eh??? The way I read the question is that 280 stickers were left over after distributing the stickers.

      So 280 has always been the total number? That certainly makes the problem solvable.

      Thanks!

        Hi, need help on this:

        At a durian plantation, there were a number of durians on sale. For every 16 durians bought, 2 durians were given a way free. Mr Yusoff received a total of 96 durians free while Mr Hong received 112 durians free. If there were 45 durians left, how many durians were on sale?

        (is there a faster way to solve this instead of drawing tables?)

          Hi

          Good Morning.

          A very “Happy Mother’s Day”

          You may use the “Grouping Concept”

          Mr Yusoff and Mr Hong received (96 +112) or 208 durians free.

          For a group of 16 durians bought, 2 durians were given away free.

          208/2 ----- 104

          104*16 ----- 1664

          Number of durians on sale ------ 1664 + 208 + 45 ------ 1917

          Best wishes

            Hi All,

            Siti had 6 times as many apples as David at first. After Siti had given 450 apples to David, they had an equal number of apples.

            (a) Find the number of apples David had at first.
            (b) David gave away some apples and had half the number of apples Siti had. How many apples did David give away.

              Mary went shopping with some money.

              In shop A, Mary spemt 2/3 of her monry on a blouse. At the bookstore, Mary spent 1/4 of her remaining money on a book. Finally, she spent all her monry to buy 2 CDs at $15 each How much did she have at first.

                Siti, Rahmesh & Peter had 528 stickers at first. Siti bought another 32 stickers, Ramesh gave 1/5 of his stickers away & Peter was given as many stickers as he had at first by his father. In the end, all three of them had equal number of stickers. Find the number of stickers Siti had at first.

                  At first
                  D=2u
                  S=12u

                  In the end
                  D=7u....receive 5u from Siti
                  S=7u....give 5u to David
                  5u=450
                  u=90
                  At first D have 2u = 2 x 90 = 180

                  B)from above both have 7u = 7 x 90 = 630
                  D gave away half 315

                    work backward
                    have $30 after spending 1/4 of her remaining money on book.
                    remaining money = 4u
                    spend 1u on book
                    left 3u = 30
                    u = 10
                    remaining money = 4u = 4 x 10 = 40

                    have 40 after spending 2/3 on blouse
                    at first have 3p
                    spend 2p on blouse
                    left p = 40
                    at first have 3p = 3 x 40 = 120

                      Siti = 4u-32
                      R=5u
                      P=2u

                      4u-32+5u+2u=528
                      11u=528+32=560
                      u=560/11...cannot get round number leh...

                        I catch no ball the first part. Thought David should be X and Siti to be 6X?
