Jennifer, i normally cook beef under small fire only. More to simmer mode for 1-2 hours. Never large fires. Could it be that's why yours was dry?

I cook in slow cooker, low for 7 hours the previous time. The soup was flavourful, but the beef pieces CMI.

My thermos pot came last week, hv to treat it first before using. Maybe using Thermos pot will hv a nicer texture.

My younger boy likes his carrot soft, if I were to cook for 1-2 hours only, the carrots will not be soft enough.

Need to re-think how I cook beef stew.

You may want to try beef shine. A little fats helps to tenderize the meat. :please: I stew over small fire for abt 4 hrs.

I don't use tenderizer. I will try to use meat with a little fats. Find that meat seems to be more tender around the fatty area.

I dunno what goes into the making of meat tenderizer, so I steer clear of it. I try as much as possible to use ingredients I know, any food labels with foreign names I :siam: šŸ˜‰

Will it change the meat's taste? DDs are fussy eaters, they are not big fan on meats, so trying to find ways to make the slice meats more tender, else always have to do mince meat dish :faint:

Squeeze the pineapple juice to marinate the meat?

Never tried lemon before, but the one time I experiment with pineapple, the meat was so :censored: tender, it could break into bits without much chewing!! Didn't try again to reduce to effect šŸ˜‰
