[Tampines] Primary Schools

hi all, i'm a new kiasu parent here.. though my ger is only going p1 2 years later.. my wife & i are already planning now..
i'm an ex-student of poi ching primary (p1-p4) & gong shang primary (p5-p6), therefore thinking of getting my ger into one of my ex-schools..
my questions are..
1. must i be a graduate (p1-p6) from the school to apply for phase 2a2? or not counted at all?
2. can i join my ex-school's alumni to apply for phase 2a1?
3. are places guarenteed for phase 2a2 or 2a1?
4. does distance matter in this case (2a2, 2a1)? cos we are currently staying in sengkang..
thanks in advance!

Any advise which school I should opt for PV. Boy borned in 2005
Only school within 1km - East Spring. Not in favour though distance is near, transport is difficult coz we are separated by the PIE.
So my preferred ‘eastern’ choices are as follow (all more than 2km) :
1. Temasek Pri
2. Poi Ching
3. Gong Shang
4. Chongzheng
5. St Hilda’s (drop coz beyond reach)
btw, which of the above school accepts clan/church endorsement?
Or should we move to the west … where my husband is old boy of Pei Hua Presbyterian. -
Hi to everyone, I am new to this forum. My son is born in march 2007 and currently I am staying at yishun. I will be moving to Tampines st 12 (S’pore 521157) next year March. I have did some research and paid on the SLA and found that St Hilda’s , Gongshang and Chongzheng primary sch are all less than 1km from my new home . Poi Ching primary is 1-2km from my home.
I need advice that do I still need to become a Parent Volunteers (PV) for school I interested inorder to have a chance in the phase 2B ?
I wanted St hilda’s primary but hear that its hard to become PV of that school. Am I too early to ask this question now as my son is born in 2007 ? Pls give advice. Thank you very much for reading. -
Has anyone already heard from the sch regarding PV for 2011 P1 registration?

I believe it does make a diffence especially when the distance is one of the deciding factor.Hi, just need to know more about address for registration, we have sold off our flat and residing at my ma's house at street 21 and..my son born in 2004.

Assuming the school is less than 1 km from your mum's house,
1. If you DO NOT change the address in your NRIC, you will need to register your child under the caregiver route. You will be under the 1-2 km category, even though the school is less than 1 km from the house.
2. If you change the address in your NRIC, you will be in the less than 1 km category.
So, yes, it makes a difference, if the school requires balloting. If balloting is open to those staying within 1 km only, you still get a chance to participate in the balloting if you change your address in your NRIC. -
HI
I think my MIL place is less than 1km from St Hilda. If I use her address that will be phase 2c less than 1 km right? How do I check out the exact distance? Thx for the help. -

Hi!
What does the address in your NRIC show?
If your address is not shown as that of your MIL's, it means you want to go by the caregiver route. You need to make a statutory declaration, and add 1 km to the distance where your MIL's house is, i.e. you fall under the 1-2 km category.
To find out the exact distance, you may like to check with SLA. A fee is charged, though. -
Hi All,
I am staying in the P Ris and I have done my PV at Poi Ching. Just curious how many parents here are PV parents for 2010 registration ?
Am curious how many PV parents is the school taking in for 2010 registration?
I am not too sure will the school further reduce the P1 intake by another 30 preparing for the single session.
Any idea ???
Pls share your thought.
