When I told my colleagues my children will be going to a SAP school and taking higher chinese right from P1, their advices were the extra 2 points not worth the 6 years effort. I have hard time to brain wash their thoughts. Afterall it was just myself to defend all of them. Chinese is a beautiful lifetime language. We don't study just because aiming for the extra 2 points.
eh loving life, come come, enlighten me - precisely becos we don't study just to aim that two points, why shd our children do higher Chinese?

Don't get me wrong, I am neutral de, if anything I am lean toward taking higher Chinese. I also hope my kid can do higher Chinese. I know the 2 points thingy and that it is only an advantage if the kid is aiming for sap secondary school. I have not tried convincing anyone on this subject but even internally, I find it difficult to justify why shd I let my kid take higher Chinese.

Popular is selling the word cards. Only P1 & P2 have cards. Enjoy!

                Hi, lovinglife

:nailbite:

I have never weigh how heavy is this 2 points. The only reason why I want my children to go through tougher path because only till then they can appreciate the language better. But by doing so I might be putting myself in the risk. Is either my children love it or hate it.

My 2 nieces took higher chinese because 身不由己. They were in SAP school. They came from a english speaking family. After PSLE, they completely shed off the language. How sad right?

Never memorise compo, or else, they will burn chinese book after PSLE.

For higher chi, can get up to 3 bonus points.

For me I will let nature takes it course, if dd1 can handle she will keep her higher chi if can’t she will just take normal chi for PSLE.

Now that I’m older, I can appreciate the importance of the language and the heritage behind it. My decision to let her keep higher chi is not based on the bonus points but what she wants. At the moment she doesn’t hate Chi so will see how it goes when she’s in upper primary.
