I like the traditional dim sum so there is this not-so-upmarket place called \"Red Star\" that I still love to visit for dim sum with pushcart style. I usually like to take foreigners there to appreciate the quaint style of that place.

The last time I went there for lunch, I actually bumped into the First Lady.
      Hey Ks2me,

My DH really likes the place too. The one near the Sub Courts rite?? He's always raving abt it cuz he and colleagues go for lunch there. Been promising to take me there but haven't got down to it šŸ˜„

We also used to patronize the one in Thomson Plaza called Kelong something. Closed down already, taken over by Peach Garden. That was good, also pushcart one.

Now, we go to Jiang-Nan Chun at Four Seasons if got strong craving for it. Not pushcart style, but I like their dim sum there šŸ˜„

I went Red Star once and swear never to go there again.

Service was non-existance and the food was coming out (from the kitchen) sooooo slowly that a lot of people just crowd at the kitchen door and grabbed whatever they can when the carts were pushed out ... only carts with non-popular dim sum survived the onslaught.

            ChiefKiasu:
            A man asked God

\"God, what is a million years to you?\"

            God replied

            \"Son, it's like a second to me.\"

            The man continued

            \"Wow. So, what's a million bucks to you?\"

            The reply

            \"Oh... that's less than a penny to me\"

            So the man asked excitedly

\"Cool... um... can u give me a penny? \"

            \"Sure, my son. In a second\"
            :rotflmao:

You found this or it's an original from you?

You must make him promised promised to bring you there at least once, it's next to Manhattan house.

But I must warn you, it is really not up-market at all but it is one place that gives me nostalgic feel and I like the selection.

Yes I went to Kelong before too, not too bad as well but no more liao.

Don't think I have been to Jiang-Nan Chun before for dim sum. Can check it out when craving comes. Thanks. šŸ˜„

Oh-oh..sorry to hear of your experience, tankee. I think that place is so comfortable with their old clients, they are operating in the old style, the \"down-market\" style. I agree that unless you really like the place, otherwise you would really never want to go. So those who go for the first time will immediately have one of the 2 conclusions, LOVE it or HATE it, no other ways about it. šŸ˜‰

                      Hi ks2me,

Just spoke to DH abt it. You described it as 'quaint', he describes it as the '1970s wayang place.' I shall have to go and 'see it to believe it' then šŸ˜„

Haiz, he said he'll only bring me if I lose some weight .... šŸ˜‰ šŸ˜‰ šŸ˜„
