Today, I just found out that there are some ppl who actually steal your letters
for a living… this is quite common overseas but is now emerging in SG.
Its commonly known as identity theft.

What they do is to go through your letters to see if there are any personal
information like Name/IC numbers/ bank account number/ credit card numbers
etc.

These information are useful for them to make fake applications of credit cards/
handphone lines using your personal information… :!:

But how they steal if the letter box is locked? You mean they have the keys to the letter box?

As I mentioned in the first post.. they fish out your letters from the letter box flaps..

Of course if your letter box flaps are locked you should be quite safe...

Sometimes, I see ppl throwing their letters around the letter box after reading it...
If its junk mail, perhaps it OK but I've seen income tax documents, CPF or bank
statements, phone bills & etc....

A lot of ppl also fail to realise that our ATM slips are equally improtant.
Nevertheless, I see it lying around at most ATMs.
