Thanks buds! Just saw your comments. The ABC game you have above looks very colourful and attractive for kids. Kudos to you, your son is learning very well at such early age 🙂 I agree with you, we have so much pleasure listening to them talk at this age. My son does have some Singlish slang already which I need to more consciously correct.

Hi again, patntee! :imanisland: I have a few variations of ABC game and another one we have for chubs and now his baby brother is this cloth book below.
      patntee:
My son is very playful and cheeky, to the stage that sometimes I don't know if he is kidding us or he really hasn't recognised the letters or numbers. Makes me want to faint, though I also try hard to incorporate play into the learning process and get his elder sis involved as well. He is currently learning phonics in pre-nursery, but seldom hear him recite the phonics sounds at home yet. He comes home singing nursery songs learnt from school. I'm still quite happy with his overall progress ever since he started going childcare, like accepting a wider variety of food, finishing his milk fast and toilet training.
Chubs has unconsciously learnt all his single letter sounds.
He loves the phonics song from this video. I share the link with you.

He also loves watching this Richard Scarry video. We still have the VCD from the sisters' time. Yah, lasted so long! :imcool:

I know that you have shared lots of information on fun learning for young children in the forum, it would be wonderful if you can share more over here to benefit all other parents of the 2010 kids. :thankyou:
Here's a new addition to my treasure trove of resources/learning materials. 😉

I have been longing to get this set for a long time but have been resisting to pile on stuff before seeing any readiness on his end... but i have finally decided i'm ready.. i mean, he's ready 😂.. and we have started on the sorting of colours first. There are so many variations to work with using these cutie baby bears - patterning, counting in sequence, counting in groups/sets (lining up 2 by 2 or counting in fives and even tens!), creating shapes, introduction to weight (if played with a measuring balance/scale), etc. All these essential pre-math and reasoning skills can be learnt thru play with just this one material and best is they don't even know they are actually learning.

They think they're just playing.

I even got him colourful gator grabbers (tongs that look like alligator heads) to encourage his fine motor skills / pencil grip so that we can alternate our sorting games using them, instead of our fingers.

I am still nursing a cold at the moment so this material gave me some time on the couch (today, while hubs was at work) to rest while I accompanied chubs to play. Thank goodness for fun innovations, we don't always have to rely on the telly (TV). 😉

If only KiasuParents have an app that we can access like FB or Instagram… wouldn’t it be great?

              Hi MrsTanWJ!

My son is born same month as your girl, but I'm only researching kindergarten right now. Have not even thought about primary 1 yet 🙂

                Hi Clearjade

My girl is in Cherie Hearts full day childcare so probably will continue her kindergarten studies there too. Maybe I'm a little kiasu haha.

If you don't have alma mater and the schools around your area are popular, then you will need to think about your options earlier. Some schools start the PV earlier, so best to chk or else might miss the dateline.

bb will follow her siblings' primary school so my days of researching for primary school is done.
