Hi Stacy
My DD is only P1, so I only have 5 months of experience with this school. So far I am quite happy with the school.
I think everybody's definition for a good school is different. CPS offers an all-rounded education. They have a behavioural card where they get a Star for every good behaviour exhibited. If they fill up the card, they can exchange for a $5 bookshop voucher.
The P1s were also involved in fund raising for the endangered animals and they will give the money to the zoo when they visit it in term 3. DD's class did drew pictures of endangered animals and the teachers scanned and printed them out as post cards. They sold their artwork in school during recess to the other teachers and levels. I thought that was really a valuable experience for DD.
In terms of academic, I find that DD's english improved tremendously after 5 months. She has always been good in maths so I probably don't see that much an improvement there. Same for the Chinese. DD has homework for abt 3-5 days per week on average. But the homework is very manageable can finish <20 min.
Of course there are little things here and there that I think they should do better. But those are really minor things which I am sure will happen in every school.
There are also some kids from the lower income family there. These kids generally lag behind academically. The teacher asked DD to help some of them, which I think is a great move. There are also a couple of special needs students around. But so far I don't think they are really disruptive. But my DD learnt a lot - she can tell me that she is not angry with her friend who broke her pencil because teacher say he cannot control, and therefore it's not his fault. And she is still his friend. And I am so proud of her
Maybe Champion or Kabby can share on their experience with the upper levels, but so far I am quite happy with the school. But having said that, CPS is not for you if the main focus is on academic. -
Thank you Dora for taking your time to share your kids experience in school. Actually i was consider Boon Lay Garden (near my mother’s place)and CPS (near my house).
My only concern is whether my daughter can keep up the school works as i just want her to have a happy childhood . May i know what time the school starts n end ? -
Hi, I support what Dora1 says. My son has enjoyed his past 3 years immensely. The teachers are wonderful - very encouraging, very nurturing and dedicated.
My son definitely grew and blossomed with the school both academically and emotionally and matured a lot. His CCA was excellent too - terrific teacher and friends and seniors. -

The School hour is as follows for P1:-
Monday - Wednesday, 8.00am - 1.30pm
Thursday 8.00am - 3.30pm
Friday 8.00am - 1.30pm
Do not worry too much about school work especially when they are in the lower primary. My DD2 is now in P2 and I can say that her homework is manageable and still can have time for afternoon nap and occasional play at the playground in the evenings

I hope the school have badminton and basketball for CCA boys. Wonder what to choose for my boy next year. Basketball they only recruit girls, boys not much choice.

Hi! mercury95sg
perhaps you can drop an e-mail to the school and let them about this? Or you may write in your DS's handbook and have him to show to his form teacher after the school holidays?
Yes, currently Basketball only recruits the girls as I understand from the teacher in-charge, Miss Liu there is shortage of manpower so she can only take care of the girls' team.
Badminton is a very popular game and thus many students love & enjoy it very much. But I guess it also due to space constraints and also the manpower issue thus there isn't this CCA. I know there is a sports club under CCA programme, maybe you can approach the teacher in-charge, Mrs. Lim for more details.
My DD2 will also face the dilemma of selecting the CCA next year when she is in P3. Perhaps it is sibling's influence, she is more inclined towards the Aesthetics group and has expressed that she might want join my eldest girl in the same CCA

Thanks Champion ! Will do a feedback to the school. -
Hi Dora1,
Any idea the after school care teachers mainly are Malay or Chinese teachers?

Wow… It was really hot outside. Just came home from the gate of Corporation Primary School. Someone from my RC told me they saw many Boon Lay Garden Primary kids were smoking at the void deck opposite the school, blocks 191 & 188 and also at the playground nearby during school term. Some were using their water bottles as football, kicking them while crossing the road… It somehow scares me so I decided to drop by Corporation to take a look…

Hi DoraNBoots
The student care teachers have a mix of Chinese Malay and Indian teachers. They also have a few PRC teachers to help them with their Chinese.
