Thank you so much :snuggles: , concern2, for your blessings and the constructive idea. I am hesitant as I may have to end up clarifying homework with him perpetually as I doubt he will get the hints that marking is an essential part of teaching. Then I will be the 'prime suspect' for any complaints later (kiasee). :nailbite:


Last year he told the class his work schedule was very tight. Some parents highlighted to the school (I got to read the emails) but nothing was done. I just learned that recently they have requested the school to re-assess the situation as it has worsened ( even took > 4 weeks to mark compositions without much constructive comments, if any). Hopefully the school can help him to help us and our kids.

This process of teaching should never be repeated for the next batch of pupils.

I will try not to give up but in another independent case a few years back, a parent sent an email to the school to complain about a P6 teacher's irresponsible actions, with pupils as witnesses to support her statements, the school agreed to investigate. To her horror, that teacher was promoted to a HOD the following year and teaching the same level (P5 & P6) but a class of slightly different rank. :siao:

I shall be patient and wait upon the school's reply. Hopefully, we won't be disappointed again so that I can post some positive remarks about Rivervale!

What a blow that must have been! I am trying to see this objectively - perhaps this teacher is very capable hence ended up multi-tasking and consequently spending less time on teaching. This is a problem with some schools in Singapore - teachers don't just teach - they are piled with many other responsibilities that teaching becomes their last priority - and it is the students, our new generation - our kids - who suffer. To parents, however, we may see only see the 'incompetence' side of the teacher. I certainly hope the the change was for the better!

Hmm...WHAT is so important about projects that a competent teacher can be so distracted and neglects his/her role as a teacher, unless he/she is eyeing for a promotion?? :yikes:

Generally within a system, a chinese proverb comes to mind: If upper pillars are tilted, the lower ones will be crooked.

Hmm, so far I have no issues yet with any teacher not doing their role as a educator. In fact My child's Form Teacher is giving constant feedback etc for the last two yrs. My child is in P4 this yr. Has been enjoying since P1&2.

P3 is transition stage, as gottto part the lower pri mates and got streamed .This yr is better for child.

Child's sch work is above average too. But I see that the MT papers, MA and Sci papers not easy .

My child who is in P6 this year wrote less than 5 compositions in schools since beginning of year. Had been marking the practice papers (with open ended questions)on own (answers provided by teacher) many times before exams as teacher had no time to mark! We r fighting the PSLE battle on our own as teacher is not dependable. So we just accept that luck is not on our side to have such irresponsible teacher who is probably busy doing other high level jobs? However the local CL teachers are very responsible and doing an excellent job. They will also truly communicate with parents during PTM. Look out for a teacher MRS TAN who is, by far, the best teacher I’ve met in Rivervale Primary School!

There are a couple of Mrs Tan...but the 陈老师 that my DS has is also excellent! Very responsible and helpful. Can feel she does her utmost to help DS get into HC and keeps him 'very on' in class so he doesn't drift away into his own world. And the way she does it is to engage, like using his name in sentence formation (造句）， not to point out and humiliate like other subject teacher. My favourite teacher!

It's Mrs Tan Li Min. But I do agree that 陈老师is also very good. During ptm in May, she was very positive n displayed lots of enthusiasm
