This forum has been rather quiet lately. To all parents of MGS girls, here's wishing all of you a happy and blessed new year! :celebrate:

            Mummies,

Are the girls expected to walk up the stairs themselves and fine the classrooms?

My gal is rather timid and doesn’t dare to walk up herself.

Any suggestions how to overcome this?

It’s stressing me out. Other than that, if the maid follows her she is fine.

Last year I had the same problem…at the staircase closest to the parents they will prevent you from going upstairs from next week. Try to use the staircase inside at the concourse (lift)…I think if you have difficulty they will be understanding and let you go up even from next week onwards. My daughter wanted to be accompanied until end Jan.

Don’t be too stressed, once they get used to school & make friends…they will be fine. My daughter had quite a traumatic start last year and cried for a couple of weeks but once she got used to the school and made some friends she was very happy. The P1 teachers are very nice.

                Hi workingmom,

Thanks for your assurance. I guess I am startled because she didn't give me too much problems at kindy. She enjoyed herself thoroughly. So I can't understand why she is crying again!

Friends wise, she is okay. Just got to overcome her separation anxiety.

                Thanks again.

No worries - my younger daughter just started P1 too this year but she is more confident & less anxious so I am relieved.

I think it’s just the "big school" feel which is a bit overwhelming !

                    Workingmum,

It’s me again. Sorry to be such a bother. But when you say they won’t allow u up the stairs, does that mean that someone will accompany her up? In that case then my problem is solved.

                    Thanks again.

There will be a staff stationed at the bottom of the stairs to prevent you from accompanying your child up. So your child is supposed to go up alone. This is the stairs near the parents’ corner next to the toilet.

So we went by the other staircase near the lift…some parents do this and bring their child up. I don’t know if they will station someone at this staircase but last year they didn’t …anyway…if you insist they will give in…especially if they see that your child is not willing to go up without you.

                        Hey,

Thanks. I think if the prefect is willing to bring her up she is fine......:)
