By the way, what would be the employer’s liability if a maid were to get pregnant? I thought we just need to buy a ticket and send her home immediately if she were to be found pregnant. Anything else other than that? Will the bank guarantee be forfeited?

No just send her home, unless you don't know and she gives birth... :faint: otherwise send her back on Your Costs you are liable to deport her.

Just found out not long ago my maid had a boyfriend but she has broken up with him. Don't think it would be the last though so the 6-monthly check-up will be very important to me to see whether she has gotten herself into serious trouble.

Sigh....good maids can also go astray....

I think it depends on several factors:
- how they have performed
- whether they try to negotiate
- how their salary is compared to the market rate

We gave our maid an increase from $400 - $450 in November last year as well as going from 1 day off to 4 days off. She was happy with that but I suspect she is going to ask for more soon as it is below market rate for her level of experience.

1) Can a maid with WP register her marriage with a supposedly high position foreign talent working in SG? Apparently, there is a copy of dependant pass letter from her boyfriend or supposedly ‘registered or married’ husband?

2) Can she be transferred off her employer account with this dependant pass letter to be with her supposedly ‘registered or married’ husband without leaving SG?

Ohh wow, why does a highly qualified person wants to apply for a Domestic Worker job. I sometimes feel its just a good way for them to come into SG, then look for another job. I dont know, since the law is in their favor. Nothing much we can do right. Be very careful when you pick a maid.

The maid met her boyfriend while working as a domestic maid in SG. Her boyfriend is the foreign talent, I don't know what nationality nor what kind of work pass he holds. All I heard was maid supposed to go back but suddenly told employer that she doesn't want to return as she has registered her marriage with her boyfriend here. Employer was shocked!!

To my understanding, anyone with WP esp domestic maid cannot register her marriage here. Is that true? You would have deemed to have fault the WP rules isn't it?
