Where to donate children's toys?
-
Hi Sembgal,
:goodpost: I am keen to know too. -
Hi, I was having the same thoughts. I hope that the less privileged children get to play with the toys, instead if selling them. Any idea?

There’s an organisation i strongly advise not to donate your old toys to. It’s a very prominent organisation and I do not want to name it publicly. You may privately message me.
My cousin has a friend who used to be a temp in that organisation and his friend has witnessed how the other staff kept the best of the donated goodies such as toys to themselves before sending the other items away to the needy. -

anyone knows where to donate books for children?
-
I did ask about these to someone who is active in such work. I was hoping to donate toys to churches who go for overseas missions that type, but even that, I couldn’t find any that was interested. So far my toys go to friends who have kids younger than mine.
On books, I quite gave up trying to donate. My kid’s school organises pre-loved bazaar during mid-autumn festival. Hope they don’t cancel this event becos I have packed quite some books to donate. Some of those books are really not bad and mostly in pristine condition. -

NLB libraries. There is a collection box near the entrance for you to deposit them. -
toys - i used to donate to the orphange at the Maris stella kindergarten at Holland rd. However, I'm not sure if they are still located there.
alternatively you can donate to the singapore council of women's organisation's thrift shop at waterloo st. they take in toys, books, clothes ... almost anything for that matter to raise funds for their activities which help the less fortunate.
